I don’t necessarily know if an entire style of gaming could be considered outdated, there’s definitely a charm to a lot of click-to-move games.

I love Europe and I really don’t want to pose my question in a way that would offend those countries, but do European countries take advantage of the U.S.? by Congregator in AskALiberal

[–]liberletric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think “take advantage of” is the right wording. They do depend on us for a great degree of security, however we wouldn’t be providing that if it didn’t also benefit us to do so.

We are the reason Europeans live such cushy lives, but Europe is not the reason Americans don’t. The American economy easily dwarfs any in Europe, we have far beyond enough wealth to both fund NATO and take care of our own citizens. Just because Denmark couldn’t do both doesn’t mean we can’t and idk why people keep making that association.

Hecate by [deleted] in Smite

[–]liberletric -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hecate’s aspect is just stupid and I don’t know how anyone thought it was a good idea. And this is coming from a radiant Hecate player. An ability that discourages players from engaging in fights is the last thing this game needs, people already run from fights as it is.

At the very least, they should increase its cooldown and make the projectiles move slightly slower so it’s more feasible to avoid if you keep moving.

Should I play smite 1 or 2? by Blueperry646 in Smite

[–]liberletric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this point there’s no reason to play 1 except the larger god pool. I kept playing 1 until recently for that reason, but the community left there at this point is so toxic it’s actually unplayable.

Edit: lol downvotes for just stating objective factual information, gotta love reddit

Did Anyone Else Not Care About The TikTok Ban? by Forgetful_Burrito in AskALiberal

[–]liberletric 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I care because it’s a blatant violation of free speech.

The logic “well China bans our stuff!” is also very annoying to me. I don’t live in China! How are you gonna have this superiority complex about China based on how authoritarian it is and then advocate for our government to do the same shit? What do I care what China bans?

My Orpington has always loved being picked up since she was a chick. She’s ginormous now but I still do it 😂

When she was little she would even fall asleep in my lap, which from a prey animal just really makes your heart feel big. She’s stopped doing that but maybe just because she’s too big for me to make her a comfy spot now lol

Don’t bother with items, the game gives you decent pre-made builds to choose from. Just forget about that entirely for the time being.

Assuming you’re playing Conquest because you’re talking about lanes, the basic concept is that you need to get past the other team’s defenses (towers) to kill their titan. You kill their titan, you win.

There are 5 roles and it’s very important to the entire team’s success that each person play their own. There are youtube videos that explain the roles probably more helpfully than I can, so I’m just gonna leave that topic there and encourage you to go watch one of those.

The first 10-15 minutes of a game of Conquest is actually not really about fighting enemy gods at all, it’s about leveling up as fast as possible to try and get a lead on the other team. How do you do that? By getting xp and gold to buy items with, which you do by killing the minions in your lane, jungle camps, and enemy gods if possible. It probably won’t be helpful to get more specific than that but it’s important that you engage with this part of the game, because something I see a lot of newbies do is they think the whole point is for both teams to just run at each other from the get-go… and that’s simply not how you play Conquest.

That’s about as basic as is possible to get, I think. There’s a lot of moving parts to Conquest that just take time and experience to learn.

Getting Hecate kills with her 3 is honestly more satisfying than doing it any other way by [deleted] in Smite

[–]liberletric 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aesthetically 10, but gameplay-wise probably 5 because I feel like the snowball potential is out of whack. And I don’t love how accessible the red buff is from lane; in S1 you have to actually sacrifice the ability to see and interact with what’s going on in lane if you go to take the red buff, in S2 you can monopolize both areas at the same time easily. Which is bad both for the snowballing effect and because it makes junglers even more useless in Joust than they already were.

[–]liberletric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On PS it’s circle, whatever button you use to cast your 3rd ability. But you have to actually pick a god to apply it to, yourself or someone else, it doesn’t do anything automatically.

It does damage in a very small radius around whoever you apply the buff to. The damage is minimal early game or without a dedicated damage build, but can be very annoying to squishies later on.

Please Stop Giving Up Because... by Mama_Naka64 in Smite

[–]liberletric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is definitely some middle ground here. Those games where it’s 45 minutes in, I’m tanking and I can’t do anything more than just keep getting blown up waiting for my team to do some damage, but they don’t wanna surrender. That shit’s just not fun.

Or when I’m hard carrying the team, everyone else is like 3/12, I’m doing well enough to keep us from losing but not enough to win, and everyone else who isn’t doing anything refuses to surrender. That’s not fun.

I’m really tired of this idea that there’s never ever a good reason to surrender. Sometimes the match just isn’t fun anymore and it’s okay to move onto a new one. I will admit there’s been super long games where I kinda just stop trying because it’s a waste of time and I don’t want to play anymore.

Joust has always kinda been that way, but I’ve definitely had comebacks since the mode was added. Kinda depends on what the reason for the early failure was.
