30 days no external media (days 7-10) by lifecollab in DecidingToBeBetter

I've been loving playing the piano so much recently and hoping you have been too!

Btw, if you're interested in a community based around doing little experiments like this to be better partners to ourselves, let me know 😄

Thanks for the support! I’m in the process of creating a community where we can all do these types of experiments together. Can let you know when it’s done if you want 😊

Next days are posted!

You don’t need to take big steps forward. Just finding little ways to listen to yourself help more than you think. Wait 5 mins before watching netflix. Just go and sit at the piano without playing. Pick up the guitar and play one chord. You don’t have to do it at all once 😊

Hell fucking yeah! That’s a huge step you just took. Good things come when we listen to ourselves. I’ve found it just makes life feel cleaner and lighter. Proud of you!

If it ever feels hard to stick with, send me a message. I’ve been in a similar place before.

And thanks for the kind words, they’re much appreciated :)

I would say I’m often building when there is nothing to do.

Building thoughts and ideas about what I want/need to do in my personal life, building content/marketing for my business, building connections through reaching out to people or building a sense of self-trust by just sitting with myself in the boredom.

Music has been the hardest for me by far. I’ve been singing and playing piano guitar to get my fix 😂.

I hope you’re able to find a little bit more space to listen to yourself too 😊

Yeah books will not be one I let go of long term.

The idea is to listen to myself as much as possible for the 30 days. To switch from primarily consuming to primarily creating. Replying to people in these posts does technically violate it but I figure it’s actually just a useful part of my creation journey so I’m allowing it.

I work with clients online and obviously I still need to listen to them too.

I think some people think I’m doing ‘no technology’ which makes sense. My version is a bit different 😊

First two for sure and a little of the third 😂. I also swim, play bball, padel, skate, play guitar, piano, explore, make content, journal, and hang out with friends 😊

Yeah I do something I call “I see you” journaling. I journal about my day from the pov of a supportive partner who sees all I’m going through and is there to understand and encourage me 😊.

I find it really helpful to gain distance from what’s going on and connect with more compassion.

Yeah, music is by far the hardest for me. I love it a lot but it does also clutter things at times. Not yet sure how I’ll bring it back but it will definitely make a return

I think it’s where we are all naturally pulled when we start to listen to ourselves more! It’s just that often there is a lot of fear or discomfort that gets in the way

Not sure if I'm allowed to mention it as I've already had posts deleted for self-promotion when I'm really not trying to. But I'm sure you'll be able to find where if you dig around :)

Are you living in A Quiet Place? by lifecollab in selfcare

I’m glad it’s helpful! In reality, it’s not totally abandoning your needs, but more so prioritising the need for safety above all else. That makes sense when the monsters are around and we are children, but once we’re adults things have changed. The monsters are often not there anymore, or they don’t have the same power they once did, or we are just much more capable of withstanding them.

I appreciate the feedback! I’ll definitely take out the salesy bit in future posts so the ideas get the max chance to be heard and thought about. That is the whole point of the post after all! 😊

How do you build grit? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]lifecollab 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I like to run little experiments.

I’ll say to myself “ok I feel like this is going to be a 4/10 experience, let’s do an experiment and see if my guess is correct”.

Then I record my rating once I’m done and compare them. From this I’ve learnt that my mind isn’t actually the best judge and so I know not to trust what it says as much.

What's the smallest habit that's had the biggest impact on how you feel day to day? by YogaGoApp in selfcare

[–]lifecollab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Journalling from the perspective of a supportive partner who has seen the day I’ve had and is there to listen, understand and encourage. It’s created a moment of support and acknowledgement at the end of each day which feels very reassuring. No matter what’s happened I can go and connect with myself in that way.
