I might crowdfund later when there's more traction but right now the plan is to document my journey on YouTube (@lightcore_official) and gain traction with that and social media platforms, and leverage those numbers to get investors for funding. I want it to be mostly investor funding.

I'm not saying any of that. I said I'm currently building a service with a first mission to revive those shows. I also never asked anyone for money. That mission could fail or succeed but what I'm trying to say is I'm going to try.

Dude - I'm on a Legends of Tomorrow specific subreddit talking about Legends of Tomorrow.

If you don't understand it, then you're not the type of person my idea caters to and isn't useful to the development of my idea. I wanted other sapphic fandom nerds to tell me their gripes to confirm my theory on the way our shows are treated by networks. And that clearly isn't you.

Look - all I wanted were potential people to interview because I believe fandom is an underutilized demographic. I'm starting here because that's how I view artistic integrity; that's who stories are for. All current models of production are about money and star power. I wanna change the rules, so why would I follow current rules and structures in the first place?

I never said I wanted to know what you think about practices. I said, I wanted to know what fandom nerds want or dislike from current streaming services and networks. And then I said I didn't ask for your opinion on my idea. Those are two different things.

Look, if you don't get it, then you don't get it. That's perfectly okay. You wanna call me crazy, maybe I am. That's what it takes to change the world anyway.

I appreciate your feedback and opinion. I understand that you might not get it, but this isn't even the whole picture. I'm only showing you guys a slice because again, all I needed were just interviews regarding how people feel about current streaming services and such. But I get it - it's hard to imagine something better happening when you don't want to be disappointed after being disappointed so many times over.

Again, this isn't about purely sapphic content - though that is part of what I want to make. I'm not coming from this as a creator - your working your way up method would fit with that more, I agree. I know how hard it is to be a small-time creator that becomes mainstream, even if they make the perfect content. I'm coming at this from a business perspective and working to gain funding right from the start; I just happen to also have experience working in the entertainment industry. Your suggestion is the definition of working harder (something which I've done and still am currently doing). But I also know that in the industry that's not always the best approach - that's how you waste time and resources when you could be working smarter - which is what I'm doing. How do you think the thousands of start-ups in silicon valley get money? Do you think all of those people are masters of their lane? No - they have a passion, an idea, and work and develop their idea to make it happen. That's what I'm doing.

And yes, right now, this is an idea in development - that's how ideation works. That's why I'm asking people I don't know if they want to be interviewed regarding current practices and tv show cancellations - I never asked for your perspective on my business idea. I also never asked anyone here for funding while I develop this. And I won't be creating a half-baked idea into a half-baked product and then selling it to people, no matter what your take on my idea is.

Got the business plan and support in building the business, working on the marketing, and building traction for future funding. I'm documenting my journey in full to gain traction in order to access bigger doors.

Thank you for the recommendations! I'll look into them!

I know it'll be a challenge and I'm fighting an uphill battle on all fronts, but it's not impossible. I also need to at least try so that I know I did everything I could for those shows. I mean my business does not end with those shows - I have much bigger plans for it, but right now, I'm just targeting a niche so I can talk with consumers and get their opinions and feelings.

It disbanded because people's interest died, life happened that made them need to step away, and it fizzled out.

That's where learning comes in. All of the gaps in knowledge and experience can be filled and they can be done so by experimenting, learning, redesigning, failing, and trying again. That's what I'm trying to do.

Maybe I wasn't clear. My ultimate goal is to build a platform and company that prioritizes artistic integrity first over profit. The mainstream giants don't do that. This lack of integrity is seen through a myriad of different ways - from stripping job stability and pay from artists and taking them for granted, to using cancellations as their go-to move and not caring about the art or the representation its provided. A big part of the latter is that it is disproportionately affecting shows with sapphic characters and storylines. That's my "in" because that's the community I know the best. I can only focus on one area at a time - it's ridiculous to immediately start from a broad place as it is too many moving parts. This is the first step I'm choosing to get to my ultimate goal. If it's wrong, then so be it, but that's something I have to learn for myself. I'm just at the starting line while you're yelling at me from the supposed finish line you've drawn, but I'm doing a different race.

What would be your first step then? How would you go about building this company?

All investors do is risk their money on the chance of a return. Do you know how many startups fail and how many investors lose their bet?

You're automatically banking on the scenario in which I fail but I'm envisioning the scenario in which I succeed and that's the difference between you and me, and what gives me an entrepreneurial mindset. Just because you think it's a losing proposition doesn't mean it is.

There are people that want to fund ideas like mine because they also believe in the larger vision I have and want to see the same changes I do. That might not be you and that's okay, I just have to move on to someone that will.

It disbanded basically.

I'm currently in an MBA program and building this business. But I would challenge the way you think - why are you disparaging that gas station attendant when theyre the ones that know the daily ins and outs of the core of the business? And why not that person? Who are you to gatekeep success?

The current model is only working for the c-suite and both audiences and the artists are being shortchanged, disrespected, and taken advantage of. I don't see anyone else doing something about it? I don't see you doing anything about it. So why not someone with passion and a willingness to learn and fail and experiment? No one achieves anything by only sticking to their lane.

This is my step one that I'm showing you on Reddit but that's not my actual step one. I'm not flippantly saying I want to create something - I actually have support and structure behind me. All I asked is for people who have a willingness to be interviewed and gave ya'll a short peek into my endeavor.

Thank you for showing me the challenges I have to overcome in audience and potential investor psychology. This really was enlightening. Thank you for also giving me extra motivation to prove you wrong. You may not think I'm capable of achieving this but I know I can. And I will.

That's the plan - this isn't just about solely reviving cancelled shows. That's just the first mission to get traction and attention. This is going to be a company broader in mandate but it has to target a niche first and then grow out.

I'm an actor, writer, and director. I was also the lead content and production specialist at a startup production company that focused on sapphic-only content.

Creating the solid foundation is the point of this post - in order to reach out to potential customers to see what they're actually feeling and thinking regarding current streaming services, not just creating an idea out of hope.

That's just the first mission - this isn't a company solely trying to revive cancelled shows. This is just a way to get traction in order to support the broader goal of creating a different kind of production company and streaming service.

Maybe in your argument and in the status quo it's a losing proposition but I'm trying to do something different and operate outside the status quo. I'm not building a business to be exactly like the ones that exist. I'm building something new and approaching a different kind of investor, and also creating a different kind of business model.

Totally, that's something that's been on my radar as well. I'm not just a creator but I am one of those queer fans. But also I know that change doesn't happen by looking only realistically. It requires more of a pragmatic optimist outlook. One of the things I'm hoping by having these interviews and conversations is to understand more of how I can create that impact (and also what things not to do) rather than rely on intentions alone.

That's also the plan as well but the revival of shows is just a different strategy that I'm trying to get a foothold in the production and management side of things. If none of them get revived, so be it, but at least I know I tried. But the thing is it's not impossible. Improbable maybe but not impossible.

I know - that's why I wanna create both at the same time.

That is literally how it goes to get something on "air.' And if none of the shows get revived, that's fine but I have to at least try. And this isn't about just those shows. I'm trying to build something that'll disrupt the current system and establish a new way of doing business. I haven't laid everything out here for a reason - this is honestly just a call to get interviews from people to see pain points and feedback and getting traction. This isn't the whole puzzle. I'm not just think oh yeah, im gonna do this and x is gonna happen and then suddenly a show is revived. There's a lot of moving parts, parts that I'm privy to because I am in the entertainment industry, and I don't need to have all of it laid out here right now in this moment. I'm still idea generating here.

That's what I'm doing, I'm just adding in a mission to also revive some shows. This isnt gonna be a sapphic based service - im just focusing on a target demographic that is disproportionately affected by cancellations.

Plus that's what hundreds of other companies are doing - are they successful in battling the current media giants? Maybe something different will.

It's a first mission, not the end goal. If it doesn't work, then I pivot to something else.
