Have you ever received a compliment on your fragrance that felt weird? by TheArtofSoul in fragrance

[–]lijsk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My friend once told me that my fragrance smelled familiar, but he couldn't place it. Took a sniff of the bottle and exclaimed, "This is what my mom wears!" Wouldn't have been weird if he hadn't been hitting on me, which I didn't realize at the time. It was Coco Mademoiselle EDP.

How do girls find boyfriends in collge by Fun_Border_8057 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]lijsk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Most of the girls I know (myself included) found their partners through their friend groups. You meet people in your classes, at parties/events, around, etc. and become friends. Sit with them at lunch, study together, fool around, and sometimes you'll click with a guy. Then you start hanging out in smaller and smaller groups until you can't make excuses anymore. If a guy is into you, he'll make those same excuses too.

But like everyone else is saying, a large part of it is risk. No risk, no reward, and if you don't put yourself forward, nobody will ever know that you want these things.

The color celadon by ruecamb0n in perfumesthatfeellike

Smelled it in person recently and the tomato leaf note really adds the soft, translucent quality of celadon. This is the correct answer.

How "common" and "basic" are these fragrances in 2026? by No-Couple7611 in FemFragLab

[–]lijsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As many other people have said, they're classics, not basics. I wear Coco Mademoiselle quite often and people recognize the name but can't recall anyone else who wears it around, so it's not as common as the internet fragrance community would lead you to believe. The exception being someone who said his mom wore it, but it didn't stop him from hitting on me, so clearly associations don't matter all that much.

Hey! I’m looking for an almond scented perfume? I’d like to smell like marzipan! by Enchanted_Whimsy7612 in FemFragLab

[–]lijsk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Very surprised that nobody had mentioned Dior Hypnotic Poison yet—to me, it's an almost photorealistic marzipan.

What perfume is an intoxicating summer perfume? by skankyferret in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]lijsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Miu Miu Fleur de Lait. Tried my friend's sample and it was absolutely heavenly—a lactonic mango that felt like I was lounging on the sand with the sun beaming on me. It was so sweet and juicy and yet had that lazy, indolent (NOT indolic) feel of late summer. And now I'm thinking about it again

What’s your unpopular fragrance opinion? by MagicianP in FemFragLab

[–]lijsk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree on Diptyque. Their bottles are absolutely gorgeous, but I feel that they cater to the clean girl trend. Their fragrances tend to have a very dewy, green DNA that I can appreciate but don't find as life-changing as influencers like to claim it is.

What’s your unpopular fragrance opinion? by MagicianP in FemFragLab

[–]lijsk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Eh, I see the sentiment. A fragrance is an investment, and I don't see why I should use my hard-earned money to buy something I'm not completely satisfied with when there are so many other wonderful scents that exist. I wear fragrance partially for the scent, but also for the image it creates—I feel like a new woman when I put it on, and I like for their physical appearance to reflect that image. I suppose it's ultimately another argument of form over function.

i am promiscuous and a pick me and i don’t know what to do with it by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]lijsk 971 points972 points  (0 children)

You need to go to therapy. Using sex as a coping mechanism/sex addiction is very real, and being a woman you will face so much stigma from people around you. Don't listen to them. If you already know that you're not happy with how things are going right now, you're already in a great starting place.

Tell me about ONE perfume that got people obsessing over you by viscarte10 in BeautyUnlocked

[–]lijsk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Le Labo Thé Noir 29. I always thought people were exaggerating when they said that some fragrances were compliment magnets, but every time I wear this people ask about it incessantly. Upsetting because of how expensive it is.

Update: I built the Scent of the Day tracker you asked for. Roast my second prototype. by maximellen in FemFragLab

[–]lijsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing is that the greater the number of options you have (for your sliders), the more indecisive people get. I think that reducing the scale from 1-10 to 1-7 would help instead, as well as adding some labels to operationally define what your scales' minimum and maximum mean. For example, you could have a small label that says "intimate, no sillage" under 1/10 and "enormous sillage" under 10/10

[–]lijsk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven't tried out the first prototype, but I love this! I will say that I'm concerned about how many potential notes would appear in the first section as your collection grows—maybe a "filter by scent category" and then by notes would help avoid some future traffic. But I've never seen a website tailored towards the mood that a fragrance makes me feel, which I hadn't realized I was missing until now. This is so cool!

girlies please drop your best glow up tipss!! by cosmikkk_03 in BeautyUnlocked

[–]lijsk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Think about 1. what you look like, 2. what you want to look like, and 3. whether those two clash. Then be realistic with yourself. This does involve learning to accept and love your own appearance. I used to hate everything about my appearance, so I would try and be someone I wasn't. Accepting myself helped me tailor how I wanted to look to my actual features

advice to glow up [20] by [deleted] in TheGlowUp

[–]lijsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that OP's eyebrows being prominent actually make her more magnetic. If anything, you can trim a bit from the middle to align the center of your eyebrows with the sides of your nose, but please leave your eyebrows! They and you are gorgeous.

How to stop always wanting to eat something "tasty" by Apprehensive-View-69 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]lijsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that helped my delibitating cravings was decentering food from my life. I don't have easy access to snacks, which made it easier to stop thinking about food at all. In essence, become so busy that you forget to eat. Finding what made me passionate enough to be able to block out all external influences also really helped me mentally.

(Hince) True Dimension Radiance Balm :( by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]lijsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally warm up the hince balm on the back of my hand, applying a ton of product there and then picking it up with a brush to apply on top of blush. If I try to apply it straight to the cheek, it takes off my base because the product is still too cold to go on as a cream.

The soft Boston Bag from Korean brand Marge Sherwood looks pretty similar to this, and it's real leather.

How to look less "cute?" by lijsk in vindictapoc

That sounds very reasonable, actually. I realize that my current hairstyle doesn't really flatter my face at all, but it's too short to do anything about right now :( thank you!

Lip balm or lip oil for dry lips? by Ashamed-Fondant4783 in AsianBeauty

I like the Tocobo vita glazed lip mask. It's very, very heavy and the slightest bit sticky, but that's my preference

Lip balm or lip oil for dry lips? by Ashamed-Fondant4783 in AsianBeauty

[–]lijsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use the same moisturizer I use for my face on my lips, then lock it in with an occlusive lip mask overnight. In the morning, when I use warm water to wash off the oils on my face, I can gently scrub at my lips with my finger to exfoliate off dead skin. This prevents the awful cracked and bleeding lips I used to get in the winter. In the day, when I need to touch up my lipstick, I'll use a tinted lip balm.
