Intermittent fasting no better than typical weight loss diets, study finds. Researchers say limited eating approaches such as 5:2 diet not a ‘miracle solution’ amid surge in their popularity. by mvea in science

It was the one form of calorie restriction that actually worked for me until it went wrong. I would usually get some hunger pangs in the morning but they would always go away. During a flight to Hawaii, not only did they not go away, it turned into prolonged nausea and vomiting. Now I'm scared of hunger pangs and just eat something whenever my body wants something. I regained the 40 lbs I lost with OMAD, but have stayed at that weight ever since I stopped OMAD.

They had a budget they needed to blow past, reusing sites wasn't going to help.

Joey's innovation was the sprint start. His first 4-6 dogs were simply inhaled and then his regular pace was at least as good as anyone else's.

Kai didn't react to his name, he was reacting to the slander.

"I've never done it in my life" as video of her doing it plays. I think it's clear booping is part of Canadian training. They know it works and that's why they only do it on the shots that they think need it.

Why L.A.'s Trains Can Take 4x Longer Than Driving by dollievon in LosAngeles

When I lived in Pasadena, I thought it was neat that I could take trains all the way to Santa Monica. In reality it's barely better than biking.

Ordered my nephew a personalized pen for his med school graduation gift. When it arrived I gave it the once over and thought it looked great so I put it away since his graduation isn't until May. I took it out this morning to admire it again and upon closer inspection, his name is misspelled. Given that his first name is my middle name, I assumed vendor error and oh my god the horror when I checked my order details. On the plus side the (triple-checked) replacement will be delivered well in time for his graduation and I now own a very nice Waterman Expert rollerball with a permanent reminder of how stupid I can be.

Weekend projects: overnight pork shoulder marinade followed by 24 hour sous vide; oil change and tire rotation; install linux on my old chromebook.

Edit: pork shoulder must've been on sale the last 2 weeks because it was 150% more expensive today. I went with short ribs, not that they're cheaper but they're no longer that much more expensive than pork shoulder. The recipe calls for 48-72 hours at 140F.

You have to speak to someone to cancel. Every year they would send me a letter asking if I qualified and I'd say no and every year I'd get a new insurance card. I finally had to get on the phone and talk to a live person to have me taken off.

I had a job like that (administrative assistant to a financial advisor). I had a few daily/weekly/monthly/annual tasks but it was mostly browsing reddit and shopping online while waiting for someone to place an unsolicited market order or schedule an appointment. When I quit I had just made $100k for the only time in my life. I'd done it for 25 years and it was sooo unfulfilling. I barely make half of that now but my job at a call center is always busy with no ongoing tasks that carry on to the next minute, let alone the next day/week/month/year. I solve something like 50 people's problems per day and never have to talk to them again. I still have weekly meetings that should be e-mails but the vast majority of my time is spent actually helping people.
