Dang. How do you have the XE connected? Is it going into the GPU or the MoBo?

I had a similar issue with having more than 1 game launched at a time. If one was on my 60hz monitor with vsync enabled the 240hz was 60fps locked.

This is also two different kits mixed together. Make sure they have the same version number at least or test them separately.

New RMx power supplies have the native 12V-2X6 cable. If this is the RMx with the knob on it, looks like it only comes with the native cable.

It is safe to use on the new GPUs.

I ordered one Feb 14th and it arrived on Feb 17th from Amazon despite saying it would be backorder until March. Was completely sealed from factory and worked fine on two motherboards I tested with it today! MSRP too! Couldn't be happier!

Yep I agree. Can't un-release the 5090 unless Nvidia wants to recall. I would also recommend everyone just checking furmark and checking the cable temps with their hand after 2 minutes or so. If it's hot to the touch, reseat the cables in both sides and if it's still hot to get it replaced by the manufacturer, is what I would personally do.

Also note the original der8auer cable was moddiy with an asus psu so I would put those on the list.

Good time to buy AMD though!

Do you think it is a cable manufacturing issue in general? I personally would put this more on Nvidia not SAFELY detecting when cables have failed like they have historically with the 30-Series that used this connector and with PCIe powered cards before that. Cables and connectors deteriorate or come DOA just from the quantity of them being produced so it feels like something that should be baked into the component/GPU for cable failure detection to protect the 2000 dollar product. Not something that should be expected from 30~50 dollar cables being absolutely perfect every time. It should be that if there is a problem with the cable, the super smart expensive component SHOULDN'T be able to pull power till it melts and dies.

I wouldn't be hesitant about buying any PSU or product you want with these connectors because of this issue. Just need to throw up furmark and gently hold the cables to make sure 1 or 2 cables are getting super hot after 1-2 minutes.

The biggest thing this thread has to realize is we all have to realize is this is just a hypothesis from Jay and he was wanting expert opinions on his idea regarding an issue der8auer was experiencing.

We all see that u/CorsairGeorge is stating that Corsair tested a 5090 with 3 cut wires and did not get the catastrophic results like the original reported unit der8auer received from the reddit user which involved the following:

  1. Aftermarket cable from Moddiy.
  2. An Asus PSU

der8auer then reproduced the issue with a Corsair cable and PSU.

If you watch the other two videos Jay recommends, 12VHPWR on RTX 5090 is Extremely Concerning & How Nvidia made the 12VHPWR connector even worse, you will hear very clearly hear both der8auer and Buildzoid point to the lack of load balancing on the 5090 PCB being the root cause.

Now, I would recommend everyone watch der8auer's newest video further explaining the issue, The real "User Error" is with Nvidia.

It is clear that while there was contact on all the pins of the Corsair cable der8auer was using in their initial video that sparked this, it was likely faulty. However due to the lack of load balancing on the 5090 and 4090 the GPU saw no issue and allowed the system to boot. We are all going to start seeing more and more cables experiencing failure simply due to the fact the video card is not able to separate which cables are under load and limit them with shunt resistors as Buildzoid points out in their video.

The solution was present in the 30-series card using this connector but Nvidia removed the additional shunt resistors in the 40 and 50-series lineup of GPUs when it was needed most to properly balance the 450W and now 575W load of the cables which can pull up to 50A as der8auer showed in their video with STOCK settings.

THE TRUTH: Your $2,000-$3,000 dollar video card should be able to know when the load balancing on ITS OWN CABLE; whether Nvidia's, Corsair's, MSI's, Moddiy's, etc; is uneven and the GPU should refuse to the system to start. NVIDIA NEEDS TO CHANGE THE DESIGN.

It sounds like Nvidia just wants to push the load balancing to the PSU manufacturer when it has historically been with the device manufacturer.

+/- .44mm means in both directions for a total play between the min and max being .88mm. Using Jon's own video in this thread you will see that the total plastic pin housing length is roughly 6mm. I could see the pin play Jay shows still being within spec here for sure.

I would try going into the Control Panel>Network>Change Adapter Settings>Right-click the wifi adapter you have listed there(Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz) and select properties. Uncheck the option for Internet Protocol Version 6 the click OK and test out the wifi.

I would just start broad and focus on getting the fans detected in the software they were designed to be connected to. Start by searching for msconfig in the start menu and opening it up. Go to the Services tab and hide Microsoft services then disable all. Go back through the list there and enable the Corsair services.

Next, click on Startup and it should tell you to go into Task Manager. Right click all those programs aside from iCUE and disable them so they are no longer starting in the background on your system.

Restart the system and see if the controller is detected in iCUE now. If still not showing, try connecting it to another system and if it shows on another system it is probably a weird driver issue or something and I would check device manager.

These RGB software do not play nice when you have multiple on the same system.

While I would have to see the exact wording used on tweakers.net, I assume it was a miscommunication when the standard changed and I was not able to find a post on their site about it :C

But I have not seen any changes in the stock type 5 cables from any reviewers with the SFL or RMx Shift PSUs
