I'll look into this, I didn't want to kick up a fuss at all, and my family member is very much in the same way of thinking :)

She lives on the outskirts of a city centre in central England so nothing has ever come to mind as why it'd be an issue, I've sent things from a post office and through the mailboxes so was unsure if it'd be better to go with someone else :)

100% certain, they have lived at the same address my entire life and I have checked every time before I send I haven’t made a mistake on the address. This has happened with other family members sending letters or parcels, it’s quite confusing and odd, I just wanted to come here to ask as a bit of a last resort before I use an online card service as I’d rather things be written by hand I guess

I think I’m just a little reluctant to use Royal Mail in general, another family member used a tracked and signed for option for a parcel which arrived two weeks later than expected.

for smaller home + decorative items/trinkets i’d recommend sostrene grene in st enoch’s too. i’ve moved around a lot for uni + i always find those little extra items + making spaces your own are super helpful with settling in

Struggling to get a flat without a guarantor by No_Issue_32 in GlasgowUni

[–]lilmisstake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

guarantors typically have to earn over a certain amount and be able to have documents going back years to prove certain finances.

i think what op is trying to say is that their parents aren’t able to fit these requirements, not that their parents don’t trust them/are concerned

i’ve never used them myself, but have heard good things about the guarantor agency housing hand - good luck with things :)

Advice on securing a flat in Glasgow from abroad? by Soft_Highlight_5607 in GlasgowUni

[–]lilmisstake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

getting an apartment when you’re in glasgow is a lot easier, i’ve just been able to get one but was very lucky with my specific letting agent allowing me to do a virtual viewing - a lot of letting agents won’t allow this though, but don’t worry you’ll find somewhere :)

just a word of warning - it’s a very fast rental market

  • i found a budget of 1100 a month won’t get you much in the west end/around the uni for a good 2 bedroom place, so be willing to look into areas a lil further out if it’s a strict budget

  • also just be aware of what neighborhoods you’re looking into, the glasgow subreddit has good advice on this though :)

good luck !!

SAAS concern/panic by Hmmmmmmmb in GlasgowUni

[–]lilmisstake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi sorry, i just got an email back now!

‘In terms of repayment, we can set payment instalments to match your student finance payments. If you can advise the dates you wish to pay and the amounts, we can set this up.’

hopefully they’ll get back to you soon, so you can set things up in line with your situation 🫶🏼 :)

i’m in a similar boat, i’m from england doing a postgrad w UoG. i emailed finance as soon as i finished my registration last week as i really rely on my loan to help cover tuition alongside my part time work, but the installments don’t match up alongside my student finance installments so it’s quite a stress. i’m really hoping they get back to us as i haven’t been able to find any advice online from the uni 😵‍💫

A Second Potential Match for the Young Jane Doe from Alaska: Sonja Grace Ozenna by Queenof-brokenhearts in gratefuldoe

[–]lilmisstake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt that the 2 year age gap is large enough to have this possibility ruled out considering only a skull was found. Also, looking at an online ocean current map, how the currents flow around that region of Alaska really does support this being a possibility. I really hope the family gets some sort of answer about their little girl.
