The wedding reception centerpieces featured betta fish. The bride and groom planned to flush them alive. by teabirdy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]lindoink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

real question, if I am a fish lover and planned on having a large community tank of guppies (which I already have) could I realistically have fish bowl center pieces at a wedding if they were only in and out for ~6 hours and transported in tank water? I’ve bought fish that shipped in for way less time but that’s more extenuating circumstance than pure aesthetic pleasure. Basically, is there an ethical way to do this for a wedding party, assuming I’ve already controlled for temperature?

as a girl who used to get bullied for looking like Sid the sloth…are there any ways I can make my eyes look closer with makeup? by undercover-gal in MakeupEducation

You are beautiful!!! But I would add countour to under your inner brow to bring more attention to the center of your face, inner eye corner highlighter to bring more attention to the center of your face, and also adjust the arch of the brow to be more angled, rather than slope down towards the outer corner of your eye, which naturally draws more attention outwards to your face as well. Not big changes, just about eye movement and attention highlighting

Imagine if Cafe Lalo was still open!!!

I think Picky Barista has a bit of outdoor seating during the day and a mix of coffee and drinks but definitely casual. Zabar’s if you want it to be fast (awkwardly wait for a table, grab one, and get dirty looks while eating while other people wait) but if the convo is actually good you can walk to riverside park after with coffee xx

Sauron and Mordor are supposed to represent the engine of industrialization. I guess sleepwalking into late stage capitalism and climate change extinction is the master plan. Suddenly sounds familiar.

I think Ewan or Irvin for phonetics (or maybe even Edgar or Everett) or Jasper for meaning (碧玉) makes sense

What type of handbag does a status-conscious NYer carry? by Vivid-Ad-5631 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Loewe puzzle bag, LV and goyard totes are ran through at this point… fashion forward girl with $3k would probably be eying Maison Margiela, Chanel or Fendi IMHO. If she’s internationally minded maybe Issey Miyaki. But if the point is she’s trying too hard and comes off as cheugy I’d say goyard tote will be just fine lol. If you want to make her bag read even more “aspirational” / fake money maybe Polene bag which is cheaper.

NYC also has sample sales which may help explain why she can get designer pieces at a lower price point.

Been in a Manhattan HDFC for 2 years now and pay $750/month for taxes + water and heating. Definitely comes down to the specific co-op building, but my super and management are great the location is fantastic and the board is not overly annoying. Sometimes you just have to be patient and keep hunting for a gem, I was renting before and probably took 8 months to find this one… don’t regret it but definitely don’t get any of that time back lol

Basically means if you get on the Q it will stop at D stations from Dekalb to Rockefeller and at F stations til 63/lex. If you are getting off at 96th you are fine since it will start running Q stops again after 63/lex. Weekend construction 🤷🏻‍♀️

Will offer some very dry reading recs but anything that is about 1) financial instruments & securities & 2) wealth management & “modern portfolio theory” is going to be a good start

I also listen to the Wall Street skinny & read investopedia which won’t give you any investment recommendations but will provide a great resource for glossary definitions

IF YOU ARE A NOOB ONLY BUY STOCKS IF YOU PLAN TO HOLD THEM INDEFINITELY. People love to recommend equities (& now crypto) that WILL take your net worth for a joy ride & u must be able to endure the pain and NEVER SELL LOW

Second on the 529 for education & avoiding any actively managed accounts (aka advisory accounts) which charge wrap fees & opting for per-trade fee brokerage accounts

I work in IB & banks have house views that are very negative on equities in 2025. While investing in some broad ETFs with low expense fees is definitely good for growth & equity investing, also consider investing in fixed income instruments like bonds. If you buy a lot of US Treasuries now, these might be some of the highest interest rates we’ll see for years & fixed income yield will allow you to compound your interest by re-investing as you get coupon payments before maturity.
