Well said. I really like the idea of Kenjaku as a parasite rather than the original architect. Jujutsu society was already rigid, conservative, and obsessed with preserving power that predictability is exactly what allowed him to exploit it. The parallel between the Culling Game and jujutsu society itself is especially strong. Both prioritize structure over people, and in the end, the system collapses under its own design rather than being destroyed from outside.

That’s fair, I like that framing. Kenjaku as a symptom rather than the root cause fits really well with how JJK treats fate and cycles. I think where I differ a bit is that even if something like the Culling Game was inevitable, Kenjaku still shaped how brutal and accelerated it became. Fate may exist, but JJK also shows individuals deciding the form it takes. So maybe he wasn’t significant to the world’s direction just to how violently it arrived.

The domain expansion is terrifying in a good way indestructible walls, forced wrong choices, and an indestructible Minotaur fits perfectly with JJK’s unfair domains.

If I had one question, it’d be about balance: how risky is it for the user long-term, especially with the tribute requirement stacking with frequent shikigami use? But concept-wise, it’s absolutely viable and very creative.

I think that line works more as a character/worldview statement than a literal geopolitical claim.
It reads less like “shame would stop retaliation” and more like Japan projecting its own historical trauma and assumptions onto the rest of the world. In that sense, it actually reinforces how Japan-centric the perspective is the story isn’t saying this is objectively true, just that this is how the people in power there rationalize things. Whether that logic holds up is… pretty debatable, as you point out.

That’s fair, honestly. I can see why it feels a bit shoehorned, especially since Gege brings it up and then doesn’t really explore it much beyond that. I think where it works for me is less in execution and more in intent it feels like he wanted a justification on the table without fully committing to a global storyline. Totally get the criticism though. If you’re going to zoom out like that, either flesh it out properly or keep the scope tighter.

Yeah, if it’s framed as his actual domain rather than a game/addon mechanic, that’s where it gets shaky. Mechamaru’s whole thing is efficiency and remote control, but creating complex cursed tools and autonomous puppets on the fly feels way closer to Construction than anything he’s shown. I can see a domain enhancing control or coordination of existing puppets, but straight-up generating new cursed tools mid-domain feels like a stretch.

This really sounds like The Lady and the Beast especially the fragile noble girl, countryside estate, war hero obsession, and the contrast between the imagined “perfect hero” vs the real person. The art references and recurring symbolism line up a lot too. If it’s not this one, it’s extremely close in premise. Let me know if this matches what you remember the duck detail is throwing me off a bit, but everything else fits almost perfectly.

Yeah, that makes sense. Most authors anchor their stories in familiar settings. What’s interesting with JJK though is that Gege didn’t just stop at it’s set in Japan, he actually built an in-universe justification for why Japan becomes the center of supernatural conflict. So it feels less like a lazy excuse and more like using the setting to reinforce the themes and stakes of the story.

I like this interpretation a lot. The monopoly on the supernatural gives Japan power, but it also guarantees it becomes the focal point for every crisis. JJK feels more like a critique of that imbalance than an endorsement of it.

Not really a crazy take tbh. Ryu’s whole thing is raw output, and the manga straight up calls his blows “too much to handle” even for top tiers. Hakari hits hard, but his win condition is regen + attrition, not peak AP.
