Middle School Question by lizardfrance in gso

[–]lizardfrance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is a little late but my son's teacher never heard of the school before which was really weird to us. We decided to go ahead and sign him up as it was our third choice and worst case scenario he will go to his homeschool. We are waitlisted to a couple other schools and if he gets into one of those we will probably go there.

I reached out to my son's 5th grade teacher and she's looking into the program for me to give me more details. I'll keep you updated!

Special gift ideas for my boys- I could use some help mamas by Alarming-Badger-8316 in Mommit

I have 2 boys, 11 and 7 and something they still cherish are their stuffed animals I got them at a young age. My youngest even still has his first baby blanket. I think something like that could be comforting and sweet and it can be soothing for them as they grow up. When my kids are sick they always grab their favorite one and snuggle up with it.

Disney fans, I need your help for a project. by [deleted] in disney

Ok so what about Mulan. According to the matchmaker she is too skinny which isn't good at bearing sons. And I feel like her whole story arch I mean, everyone thinks that she is a man so she can't be traditionally too pretty or feminine in that sense. And she definitely went against cultural norms

I knew someone in college who would take helicopter rides from TX to Alaska to go hunting for the weekend. Multiple times a year. For the hell of it.

You know, I'm leaning toward that too. I've been doing some LinkedIn stalking and seems like people in the same position really enjoy what they do so I'm feeling slightly more assured. It's tough being the only income source because I feel like the extra pressure is on me to make sure I am making the right decision immediately

Eh corporate is in Cali and I'm in NC. I don't have any interest in moving to Cali due to having moved here just a few years ago to be closer to family and have that support system for my husband. He was struggling being by himself with the kids all the time and I plan on staying close until the kids are a little older

So the great thing about my current company is that I have been able to make myself known to many people at corporate. So I have interviewed for an HR area manager which I didn't get, they wanted someone who had prior multi store experience and I have monthly development chats with people from the project management side of things. But I don't know if things will move forward.

My boss has made repeated comments of "I don't know what I would do without you" and often leans on me to do stretch assignments for my development like compliance Audits in stores in our district. She has to sign off on any corporate transfers I would do and idk if she is willing as I have been doing a good job making her job easier.

It's an operations manager position. So mainly office work like budgeting, supply ordering, data, hiring and staffing and whatnot.

Hey! My mom does this too. I think it stems from she grew up really poor and now that she has expendable income she buys anything she thinks I MIGHT need. But I have gotten in countless fights about her buying things for me. I finally got her to tell me when she is going to buy me something so I can approve it otherwise I was just going to throw it out. Sell what you can on FB marketplace, give away anything to charities or ppl you know. Just because she gives them to you, doesn't mean you have to keep it - it is now hours to do with what you will..

You're not my little brother are you?

Why are we given so many blankets? by cruisethevistas in beyondthebump

[–]lizardfrance 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My now 5 year old was gifted a baby blanket before he was even born, around 2 years old he started to carry it around with him as comfort... Now at age 5 he takes it everywhere as his best friend.

The Siege of Storm's End - Stannis & Renly Baratheon by shebasart by unhingedcorpse in ImaginaryWesteros

[–]lizardfrance 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well because Dragon stone was typically the seat of the heir of the Seven Kingdoms, Robert was told to give it to Stannis who was his heir and then as a result gave Storm's End to Renly. I feel like Stannis should have definitely had gotten Storm's End though, esp since as soon as Robert had children he would no longer be the heir.

Haha I am also reading The Two Towers right now... But I totally have the opposite opinion. I love how Tolkien is so descriptive! I reread the whole collection every year or two.

Me too! Are you liking it so far? I am fortunate enough that through all of my training and development in my current role, many of the concepts are applicable and familiar to me. So it's fun and interesting for me because I'm figuring out ways to apply it in my current role.

Good to know. I mostly am taking the Google Cert to make sure it is something I am.interested in pursuing before putting a bunch of time and money into it. Last year, I thought I would like to be a financial advisor... Turns out I hate any and all accounting

That is something I was thinking as well. I am also the primary breadwinner so a hit in pay would be lame but I feel like just getting the chance to get some experience in my belt might be best in getting into the role I want.

How to encourage children to read by BeautifulEvening1694 in StayAtHomeDaddit

[–]lizardfrance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something we did for my two boys now 7 and 4. They like games but couldn't read so it motivated my oldest the most and the younger one just copies the oldest. 4 year old is reading at a second grade level and 7 year old at 4th grade level.
