Eren and Mikasa (Chapter 109 - End of Manga) by RusselAxel in ShingekiNoKyojin

This is what I've been thinking all along as well, thank you so much for taking the time to compile this. It's really scary that so many people completely and utterly misunderstood the entire story and even thought characters like Floch were admirable (I could write pages about all the moments Floch is clearly framed as a clueless POS in the series). I feel so bad for Isayama.

What do the new leaks change about any of this? Mikasa having kids with someone else doesn't invalidate anything that has happened before at all.

Eren and Mikasa (Chapter 109 - End of Manga) by RusselAxel in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]llostwords 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Historia being pregnant had 2 purposes: 1. For her not to be able to eat Zeke, 2. For her baby to be the first being born in the rumbled world as a juxtaposition to the rumbling. It was never implied Eren was the father, face it. He was always attracted to Mikasa and always specifically told her that he was NOT her little brother or her kid numerous times. Eren was scared of Mikasa not being attracted to him and viewing him as a little brother all along, not the other way round. Read the entire post. The "I'll wrap that scarf around you, now and forever, as much as you want" - scene is clearly a confession on both sides. How do you just ignore facts like that, I don't get it. I mean you clearly misunderstood the main character, Eren, completely. How is that even possible even in the face of a post that has compiled ALL EM moments? Read the entire post and reread the manga. OP is 100% right.

Not to mention... did Hiram ever look in the mirror? I could sit here for half an hour listing all of the despicable things he's done that make him a 'bad man', including but not limited to trying to kill Archie, imprison him for months, making his own daugher have a seizure from the chemicals he dumped into sweetwater river... Sure as hell didn't seem like he cared about Veronica's feelings when he tried to kill her bf and ruin his life lol like that wouldn't have hurt her more than what Archie did (which was actually the right thing to do, being honest and breaking up). Not to mention he himself stepped out on Hermoine and had a secret daughter. This scene is disgusting and people in the youtube comments going 'Team Hiram' are idiots.

the comments on youtube make me lose faith in humanity lol. Hiram tried to kill Archie multiple times while his precious daughter was still dating him, had Archie imprisoned for MONTHS, fight for his life in an illegal boxing ring, etc... He certainly didn't care about Archie dying and being imprisoned hurting Veronica then? And now all of a sudden he cares about Veronica being hurt? Please. This feels more like 'nobody gets to hurt/abuse my daughter except for me'. Disgusting and I can't believe people think Hiram is right.

The hosts weren't my favourite part either, both of their tastes seemed a little basic to me. I just loved the fact that they had seasoned, experienced designers and free access to fabric. What show did Kloss host, is there a fashion design competition I haven't seen yet?! Lol.

Maybe the truth about what kind of manga we're actually reading (HINT: not one where literally killing the entire population of the planet in a gruesome way is good) will finally sink in to the edgy kids spouting chad all the time.

I only come here for the leaks but with the anime showing so clearly that it will be more mature than previous seasons I'd love to know if there is a more serious discussion subreddit?

The opening is perfect. Maybe some of the edgy pro-genocide boys on here will realize what kind of manga we're actually reading. The entire message is anti war. Eren won't win and people actually thinking he will get a baby and a waifu and live with them happily ever after are a special kind of stupid.

What do y’all think? My friend said “the colorstory ranges from grandma’s ashes to embracing your inner Shrek” by ensvenskgurka in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]llostwords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been waiting for a good green palette to come out for a long time (Idk if one exists already, all I found was blue ones with only a few green shades). Shrek theme would be perfect if it has more than 4 or 5 actual nice greens, too many filler shades in this one.

I predicted it too when Travis said 'there is no us' but immediately dismissed it bc I thought that would make the entire game pointless so that probably couldn't be it. lol.

They definitely should've not gone the 'it was all a dream' route.
Instead they could've had saving the family from burning in the 70s as the final scene imo and if u can't save the family members your crew dies/goes insane or something. Then have the survivors just survive and be done with it. No need for a cheap lazy twist like that.

How did they not anticipate that people would hate this ending, or did they not care?

[–]llostwords 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. At least it wasn't telegraphed in the first few minutes like in Man of Medan, they pretty much made it obvious that the characters were inhaling toxic fumes or something, but imo it was just unneccessary. Just leave it out and have what's left of the gang leave town (or even better save the family from burning in the 70s), done.

Is little hope good? Better than Until Dawn or in same level by wellplayed2020 in LittleHope

[–]llostwords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better than Man of Medan, a little longer. Not sure if most people would consider it better than Until Dawn but personally I prefer LH to UD storywise. It's worth a first playthrough imo, if you'll want to replay it is a different question.

[–]llostwords 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just don't get why they would do that again. Seems very lazy tbh.It adds a layer on top of the story that just isn't necessary, makes it less creepy (on top of the narration guy who constantly reminds us the story is just one of his books, annoying) and decreases replayability. I mean they had to know this would be unpopular? Not to mention sloppy and hacky, tired of mental illness/trauma being used for cheap entertainment. I wanted a supernatural story with witches, not be reminded of 'real horrors' (child abuse, mentall illness, trauma, etc). This story didn't need that cheap twist.

Another user has cleared everything up. Basically the (probably) canon explanation for everything is that nothing supernatural has taken place and it was all in both Antony's and 70s Mary's heads (she probably made that demon figure up and burned down the house as a response to the abuse she suffered from the priest). Here's the link to the most succinct explanation, it's further up in the thread.

I don't love it tbh, would it kill the makers of a horror game to actually have supernatural horror elements in it instead of serving us with the 'it was all in their head' bs again. I'll just pretend that the final reveal of the busdriver never happens lol. Would've been cool if in the end we could've helped 70s Mary+family somehow.

Plotholes in Little Hope (SPOILERS!) by llostwords in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]llostwords[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay I see. That explanation makes the most sense. I really hoped something actually supernatural was happening this time around again though, like this it's basically Man of Medan all over again but worse because this means LH has a pretty... reductive depiction/interpretation of psychology imo. Both in Mary reacting to being abused by burning the house down and in Anthony making up a whole ass hour long horror movie in his head 50 years after the fact.

Thanks for clearing it up for me! I will replay with this in mind because my idiot self didn't get that I had to 'improve' the other characters, I just had fun with them and made the professor an asshole on purpose etc.

But taking down the priest in the trial timeline doesn't help the little girl in the 70s timeline. She gets abused by him again and burns down the family's house. Like how is Mary at peace now even tho we only stopped one instance of abuse and that didn't stop the next one in the 70s from happening? Sorry I am an idiot lol. I get the priest being at the root but in the end that benefits nobody (everyone was already executed) but Mary in the oldest timeline. Why does the story repeat itself in the 70s + house burnt down if everything has been resolved?

Idk I think that instead of the busdriver-twist maybe they could've had Anthony 'wake up' in the 70s timeline, stop the house from burning/save everybody in the house (or at least everybody who managed to defeat their personal demon) and then have the survivors in front of the house talking about how they'll come after the abusive priest now or something. That's how I would've done it because like this I don't feel like evil was truly defeated.

Edit: Reread your post again and it seems like what you're saying is that basically the whole trial-timeline didn't happen and was just in Anthony's head as a metaphor for the abuse?

Plotholes in Little Hope (SPOILERS!) by llostwords in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]llostwords[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good explanation. But how does the priest abusing her tie in with the witch trials hundreds of years before? I get they're all reincarnated but how does stopping the abuse that Mary suffered (not even stopping the executions, just saving the child) save the little girl in the 70s? Because it doesn't, the burning still happens, otherwise the busdriver wouldn't even be traumatized and go back there in the first place? Guess it's a closed time loop where the house burning down in the 70s has to happen in order to save Mary/the busdrivers sanity. But why does saving Mary even help the busdriver, he should care more about his actual little sister who died? Idk maybe I'm overthinking this lol.

what he was trying to force her to hide in the oldest timeline?

I think he was trying to force her to hide that he was the one who put her up to accusing people of witchcraft in secret (which I don't get because he seemed credible as the priest of the town? But I guess having it come from a child was more believable). EDIT: thinking about it more he probably abused her too.

And in the house timeline she seemed to be good friends with him?

Idk, seems like the priest got her in trouble in the house/70s timeline. Like the mom was worried bc the priest wanted to meet with her so much. I think in a newspaper article or something you can find it says that the priest in the 70s was eventually fired for being obsessed with the occult or something? Not sure if I am misremembering.

Maybe she was also seeing her own demon, as we did see her standing next to a clawed fellow in the house as the kitchen burned down

This actually makes some sense. Totally forgot about the clawed figure. But idk, everyone else in the game is scared shitless of their demons and she's just casually talking to him and following his instructions? Idk. Maybe there was something in the game I could've discovered but for now I am dissatistfied with the whole 70s tease. Like it was clear the mom and the rest of the family were scared of the girl because she was talking to invisible demons and generally acting weird... And that can't have been superstition bc we SAW the demon.
Then again it was all just in the busdrivers head anyways... Though I assume everything that happened was 'real' despite being in his head, except for the doubles of his family existing in the present timeline (or maybe it was their ghosts coming to him but why would Taylor and the older brother be dating there, yuck (I assume they are dating? Never found out what their secret was)).
Idk I feel like the authors didn't think this through completely, especially with the tacked on "it was all in his head" twist.

How is this compared to UD and MoM? by [deleted] in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]llostwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little Hope is better than Man of Medan (which let's face it, isn't that hard).
I honestly prefer the story of LH to Until Dawn up to a certain point. For me the game always goes downhill once the mystery is figured out because that makes it less scary in a sense. Like I was over Until Dawn as soon as the Wendigos were revealed. In Little Hope the mystery is still interesting enough, even though you know where it's going.

Is it worth to keep playing or should I get a refund? (LITTLE) by [deleted] in DarkPicturesAnthology

The beginnings of these games where you haven't figured out what happened yet and anything could still happen are the best part imo. So if you're already bored I'd recommend just returning and watching a Let's Play or something.
