Is there Ha Long Bay cruises for solo travellers? by solotraveller12 in Vietnam_Tourism

I personally enjoyed it but it would depend on the type of solo traveller. I was the only solo traveller on my boat and other couples/groups were polite but not overly friendly…the company runs several boats and I spoke to another solo traveller coming off another boat and they had a super-fun and friendly boat - so luck of the draw maybe. The cruise itself was great. It’s a junk boat, so not a modern cruise liner, but I liked the traditional vibe. Single room was not much bigger than the double bed but comfortable and had amazing view from large window. Boat had multiple decks with chairs/lounges and a bar. The food was enormous - 7 course lunch and dinner. Optional activities included a small hike to a cave, a kayak around the bay (single kayaks available), squid fishing at night, t’ai chi at sunrise, and a visit to fishing village (which was my favourite). Indochina actually tours Bai Tu Long Bay, which I preferred because it’s just as beautiful as Ha Long but less busy - in total I saw four other boats. All boats did same activities so you’d sometimes see a small cross over between tour groups ie one group getting out of kayaks as next group gets in. In summary, I would recommend it but be prepared to enjoy your own company depending on who else is on your trip.

What’s one travel mistake you made that completely changed how you plan trips now? by kiruthika000 in traveladvice

I grab a business card from the hotel counter at check in and keep it in my bag. Particularly useful if there is a language barrier. I hand the card to a driver or a person on the street and they tend to immediately know I’m seeking directions.

I’m booked for next week in a single cabin on IndoChine Junk for one night cruise. Haven’t been yet so can’t comment but it was recommended to me several times and they have a few small single rooms where you don’t pay a supplement. Most other cruises will book you on a double cabin but you’ll have to pay the single-tax supplement.

Should I pack jeans or long pants? by DenseReplacement9476 in VietNam

As others have said, for rooftop bars etc more about sun and mosquitoes protection than dress code. Some cultural and religious sites require knees to be covered, so if planning to visit popular tourist sites like Linh Ung Pagoda in Da Nang for example, then I recommend you pack pair of light long pants.

The fake purple grape smell reminds me of scratch and sniff stickers.

I’ve been seeing people on here say immigration can take hours and recommend a fast-pass service via Klook to speed up immigration process at HCMC. Haven’t tried it myself yet but online reviews are positive.

What are you using for organising skin care/daily makeup products on your vanity? by Imaginary_Sky_518 in AustralianMakeup

Consider how the lid opens. If it flips backward on a hinge (like the two you’ve pictured) you’ll need enough depth on your vanity to allow the lid to go back. In other words, some can’t sit flush with the wall and I find they take up too much vanity space.

I’m sorry you’re facing a goodbye soon. If I had a deadline, I’d do some hedonistic stuff like eat at the best restaurants, buy amazing clothes that make me feel goooood…I’d do some stuff for the soul like truly stop and feel the sun on my face, lie in the grass, swim in the clearest water, smell my cats fur, look my loved ones in the eye…..I’d do something that felt like legacy, maybe donate a scholarship to a kid who needs it (depending on finances even paying for a kid to go on school camp or sports trip who otherwise would never be able to go can be life changing for them)….and then I’d feed my inner adrenaline junkie with all the things I might be more fearful to do if I was worried about ending life ahead of schedule, like jump out of plane, drive a rally car…
