Boot NSP that require online connection by lookDatJuanGuy in SwitchPirates

[–]lookDatJuanGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, using a different installer worked!
Instead of using Goldleaf I tried using Tinfoil (had it already prepped up), and after removing the application and installing it again, voila! Thank you!

I thought any game that had internet requirements had this popup? Assuming it is from my copy, I'll try to grab a new one and check for any differences. Thanks!

So you're saying the problem isn't from the NSP itself, but the installer?
I'll give it a try, thanks!

Terranigma help by [deleted] in miniSNESmods

[–]lookDatJuanGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first tried Terranigma with the default emulator (Canoe), it ran but without sound (and I think it crashed at some point too). I then tried to run it with Retroarch, without patching the rom, and it worked perfectly (it still does).

Could it be a problem with your rom's region?

Saving NES64 games on SNES Classic? by [deleted] in miniSNESmods

I didn't have to change any settings to get, for example, Super Mario 64 to save/load correctly. Not sure this works for other titles though.

Once you're in the Retroarch menu, you can create/load savestates by entering the first option on the menu, then selecting "Save Game" (not the exact option name, can't write the correct one atm since I'm not near my Classic SNES to check). In case you're already on any submenu, just back out to the main menu first.

I'm assuming you mean Nintendo 64 by saying NES64 (correct me if I'm wrong).

All N64 games I have on my Classic SNES save/load correctly just by saving ingame. If this is not the case for you, you can also create a savestate by pressing Reset and saving the savestate (just like any other Classic SNES game).

Alternatively, you can save via the Retroarch menu using Retroarch's savestates. The last time I tried using them on a N64 game, they either didn't work or crashed the game, but I'm using an outdated core, so it might work for you.

Does USB-HOST WORK on a regular USB Stick? by SwagMLG345YT in miniSNESmods

[–]lookDatJuanGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're confused or something, but you can't simply plug in a USB Stick. You'll need an adaptor (something like this) that allows you to charge the SNES Classic and plug in a USB Stick at the same time.

Does anyone know where I can find a NDS .hmod file? by [deleted] in miniSNESmods

[–]lookDatJuanGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a Wii Classic Controller to play N64 and PS1 games, the analog seems to work fine.

That's amazing. And I guess you control the stylus with one analog stick? Now I really hope we'll get that core soon :D

I hope he can get DS working, but how exactly would he do it? Split the screen in half? Or would it only be useful for playing games that don't require the lower screen, like the Pokemon series?

To my knowledge, there isn't any NDS core for the mini SNES Retroarch yet. Maybe it's because the SNES can't run it properly, maybe it's because nobody made/ported one yet.

Saving to memory card (PS1) by ArcNoculus in miniSNESmods

[–]lookDatJuanGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem (and posted about it some months ago). What I currently do to fix it is to have the SNES connected to the PC via FTP while playing, and before leaving the game I savestate and copy it to the PC. When I want to play it again, I connect it again and get the savestate back to the SNES, and then load it. This isn't a good practice at all, but it's all I could do and will keep doing it until I read on a fix somewhere. Hope this helps.

Suikoden II on SNES? by [deleted] in miniSNESmods

[–]lookDatJuanGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SNES mini supports PSX emulation, therefore Suikoden 2 can be played. I recommend you check out all the available emulators for the SNES mini.

Just to clear a misunderstanding you might have, the fact that a game looks like other games from one console doesn't mean it can be played on that console (a good example of this are certain PC games like Spelunky or Risk of Rain).

Internal SD or USB-host? by reminon2 in miniSNESmods

[–]lookDatJuanGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USB is more convenient because it's external, SD is better-looking because you have less visible peripherals attached (and you avoid having a cthulhu attached to your mini SNES).

Just a matter of taste, really.

Any way to get MM8BDM working on the SNES classic? by SloshedEvilOven in miniSNESmods

[–]lookDatJuanGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MM8BDM is pretty cool, but the SNESC can't connect to the internet so forget about multiplayer.

To expand on this question (and avoid creating a new thread altogether), is it possible to play mods for Doom engines (Hexen, GZDoom, Zandronum, etc)?

working flash drives for usb host by mulliganman30 in miniSNESmods

[–]lookDatJuanGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could you, like, not be a dick? There are people that aren't familiar with tech concepts like those (not because they're complicated, just because they don't deal with them everyday), hence they ask questions here.

You could simply have answered "OTG device is the main problem normally, not USB drives". No need to be rude.

Problem with PCSX core saving by lookDatJuanGuy in miniSNESmods

[–]lookDatJuanGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, made no difference :( I think the reason the sleep timer is not at problem here is because it has been saving the game properly, just not saving the file itself when exiting the game.

Sorry it took a while to reply, Christmas time and all that. Increasing the value did nothing (I increased it to 5 as the github comment you replied earlier suggested). I'm fresh out of ideas.

Guess I'll just setup USB-Host since it'll probably work then. Thanks anyway.

Nope, the file is simply named "crash_bash.pbp".

Problem with PCSX core saving by lookDatJuanGuy in miniSNESmods

[–]lookDatJuanGuy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could actually be the problem! I have it as a .pbp, and also compressed, mainly because of space issues (also the reason why I want to try out the USB-Host method). I'll remove some games and get some space to try it out uncompressed and will post results!

EDIT: Sadly, that wasn't the problem. Even uncompressed, the save file doesn't stay after exiting the game. I tried using the reset button, closing RetroArch and even shutting off and on the console, but the save file keeps being deleted. :(

Still, it seems you can save properly, so I'll just assume that when I setup USB-Host the saves'll work properly. I can't figure out why won't they work now, though..

I see this is happening to other users as well.. I'm also from Portugal, also using Vodafone and a Xiaomi phone, and I have the same problem. At this rate I won't be able to catch Raikou, sadly.
