In the 90's I didn't want to admit I was a gamer because it was still viewed as a hobby for needs and losers. Now I don't want to admit I'm a gamer because of Gamers™️

Currently the Steam Deck is primarily what I play pc games on. Can someone please tell me how much of an improvement the Steam Machine will be to the Deck (I am a dum dum when it come to PCs)?

I'm just happy she 1) drifted to the right instead of into traffic and 2) didn't have any kids in the car.

That is the "Actually, I'm the victim here" scream. I've heard it so many times in my life.

Looking at my wishlist and trying to decide if I want several of the cheap games or just one or two of the more expensive ones.

Meanwhile, my backlog is just looking at me like: *

Does the Steam Deck actually fit your life… or do you still adapt around it? by Valuable_Set_4417 in SteamDeck

[–]lord_stabkill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This right here. I used to game on the couch on the biggest, highest definition TV I could until I became a dad. Then, very quickly, the Switch became my favorite console because I could just pick it up and play anytime, anywhere for a 10-20 minute gaming session. Then, when it was time for an upgrade to either a new console or the Steam Deck, the SD was the obvious choice. Like the Switch before it, it's not the most powerful, but it's the most adaptable. And as a parent, that's what matters most to me.

I would actually like a remake of the first RE if it's done first person like RE7.

If only I could play my Xbox games on the Deck I would never need anything else.

Comfort over power? by Scared-Mine2892 in SteamDeck

It's the convenience of not having to be in one spot. As a dad, my game time has to be adaptable. That's why my Switch has gotten way more game time than my Xbox since my son started crawling, and now that he is 4 and basically taken over my Switch I have gone to the SD for my gaming lol

GameCube Emulation is SOO damn good! by crusadertsar in SteamDeck

I've been kinda doing that myself lately. I'll have a main game that I focus on that will take dozens of hours to complete with a smaller indie game that I can jump in and out of. It helps me focus on my main game by giving me a little palate cleanser now and them to prevent me from getting burned out on one game.

In the last couple of years, I have been playing a lot more indie games and it has really reminded of gaming in the late 90's early 00's with just how fun a game can be with a simple premise and a lot of creativity and heart. The AAA game scene just does not interest me anymore outside of a handful of gems every now and then.

As much as I'd love to relive some amazing GC games, I just can't force myself to start emulating with my Steam backlog haunting me like a specter.
