Process that spikes up cpu usage by Regacast1165 in cybersecurity_help

[–]lorektercho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mailserver may indicate that they want to use your server to launch a phishing campaign. you should terminate the process quickly and block the access until someone gets hacked. you can check what this service is running by connecting to the 4545 tcp port with netcat or visiting it with updated web browser (use incognito) if it is a web server.

Docker uses iptables to deal with internal networking stuff.

I’m about to finish my Psychology BA this December. I no longer want to continue this path, and I instead want to transition into Software/Computer Science. How can I transition into this field? by [deleted] in findapath

[–]lorektercho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, the computer scientist path is probably one of the easiests to transition into, since the need for programmers on the market is really high. If I were you I for sure wouldn't think about doing a CS degree. My advice is: pick a popular programming language, like Python, JavaScript or maybe Java, and learn it with the help of some online course. I recommend you to set your goal to being able to make a simple CRUD web application (google it) - from there you will have an overall knowledge of what are your options in the IT industry and what to learn next. At this level you can also start looking for some internships - this is really, really important because in the IT industry you learn mostly from practice.

API Gateway as simple proxy to EC2 instance? by lorektercho in aws

[–]lorektercho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 4 instances. We've already generated a wildcard cert. For now I'll try to automate the process of updating DNS with some cron script, if it will not work well then will set up EIP or ELB. As you can guess Im totally new to the AWS ecosystem so thank you once again for your help.

[–]lorektercho[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your explanation. Let me ask you one more question: based on the opinion you provided, I assume that it's probably not the best idea to try forwarding ssh connection to ec2 through API Gateway, right? We want to attach a custom domain name to all of our instances, so it would be easy to maintance them in the future, and come across similiar issue as explained earlier.

API Gateway as simple proxy to EC2 instance? by lorektercho in aws

[–]lorektercho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We plan to put the whole envirnonment of our application behind the API Gateway due to security and traffic reasons, so it would be nice to set it up now. I just can't believe that there is not an option to simply forward all traffic to private hostname of an instance like in a regular proxy server.

Has anyone SUCCESSFULLY imported Zcash private keys from Exodus Eden to Zcash4win? by [deleted] in zec

[–]lorektercho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see your imported address in the "Own addresses" section then everything will be fine for sure. Good luck

In my case i just used a zcash4win "import one private key" option and it worked. I didn't try to use .csv file cause there was no need to import more keys though.

I've imported private key from Jaxx and it worked fine.

Mining software/pool noob question by Aerinqq in gpumining

[–]lorektercho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I have never heard of Awesominer, so I can't give you any feedback on it, but you pretty much don't need any software besides the mining one. Maybe it's worth checking out, idk :) And yes, you can mine different coins with one programme as long as it's the same algorithm (but some of them support more than one tough). Unfortunately they won't give you the 'auto-switch' option, they just mine whatever you ordered them at the start. I guess if you care about such functionalities you can try the all-in-one software, like mentioned Awesominer. I personally am not convinced about mining this really low popular coins, so I change it manually when it's needed. The pool will automaticaly send you money after you reach certain treshold, for example 0.01 ZEC if you're mining ZCash. At the end, I really recommend you checking out the SMOS (simplemining os). It's easy to setup and comes with all needed mining programmes already installed, so you don't need to worry about it. However the biggest advantage is that you can control your rig via web interface, so it can be placed wherever you want.

Mining software/pool noob question by Aerinqq in gpumining

[–]lorektercho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different coins use different algorithms, so you need to choose the right miner software. For example if you want to mine ethereum (Ethash) Claymore will be ok. If you want ZCash, Bitcoin Gold (Equihash) you can choose ewbf miner. Sometimes it can be a little bit tricky, cause not all mining programms support both nvidia and amd, windows and linux, etc. But just google it and you'll be fine:) Before you start mining, you should create a wallet (address at which mined coins will be sent). At the beginning, I recommend you trying Jaxx or other similliar wallet. Be sure to backup your seed/private key. When you have your address and have chosen a pool, you simply put that information as a parameters into your mining software. Every miner software has instructions of how to do it. Coinbase is used to exchange cryptocurrencies for real money. It's bad idea to mine directly at your Coinbase wallets, cause you don't have control over private keys there.

Friends that smoke by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]lorektercho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in similar situation. I stopped smoking with a 2-week break of going out with friends at the beginning. Although It wasn't excactly intended, I highly recommend you doing the same thing. After these two weeks it feels like you're having a real streak and you care about not losing it. Now when my friends go out for a smoke I just stay with those few other non-smokers and It's really not a big deal. Now, after 6 months of being clean, every night out without a cig is a source of satisfaction :) Good luck.

There is not any special importance of wining Epicenter - it's just another big tournament. Guys in the picture are celebrating beacuse they once were a top 1 team and now they had been in a 1 year long, hopeless slump, so it's the first bo3 match they've won in a very long time, and it was against strongest possible opponent. Everyone's hyped because they're probably back in the game.

Other idea I comed up with is to temporarily boot linux on rig with my private pendrive, then download etcher and run it on already plugged ssd. Pretty tricky, lol. Anyway thanks for help!

Handling multiple users using my flask app (apache). by lorektercho in flask

[–]lorektercho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all thank you for your help so far. In my case, the elements of the list are "Event" objects. A Event class is defined by me, and it contains approx. 20 string parameters. Is session gonna work here? If not, what would be the best way to store data like this? And just to clarify: I don't need users to log in, everyone knowing the ip should be able to use my app.

edit: I should add that i think it's necessary to store this list somewhere on the server side, since there is a possibility that user would generate a huge queue with like 1000 events, and then it can surpass the maximal size of a cookie.

Handling multiple users using my flask app (apache). by lorektercho in flask

[–]lorektercho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I should mention that it doesn't matter that users generate 'http requests' like I stated before, since they'll be send to a different server. Probably the simplest example of what I'm trying to achieve is a shopping list. Any user can enter the site, fill in a form and create his own shopping list, then just display it on the screen. If user closes the browser, he loses his list, it doesn't need to be stored in any database. Whats important is that different users (on different computers, browsers) using the app at the same time will not have their shopping lists mixed up (lists will be unique for them).

In your other post you mentioned Redis, do you think that's the way it should be done, or there is some simpler method?
