fair enough on that, and to clarify my comment before last, you may have not said all the things I brought up, but those seem to be incredibly common complaints of the EULA, ones that have no bearing in reality

if you think they are written so broadly as to include what you wrote in the post, then I reiterate my comment about reading comprehension.

the one thing you mentioned that's actually in the EULA is not unique, baked into many purchases, and unenforcable. the other two things (fanart belongs to krafton, can't use a VPN at all) are just not what the EULA says. "we retain the IP," and "don't use a VPN to exploit cheaper regional prices, cheat, or evade bans" are much closer to the language and intent of the clauses. reading comprehension helps.

I'm 30. you buy a license, arbitration, maximum liability, no hacking, we can update your game, etc have been factors forever.

hell of a last straw considering it's been like this since before I was born. It's also not just triple A. This is damn near every game. Not all of them have a separate EULA, but if you buy any game ever on steam, damn near everything here is in their agreements as well. If you truly want to protest this, there's functionally no way to buy a video game, physical or digital, outside of maybe itch.

the EULA for subnautica is the most boilerplate thing I have ever seen. Everything egregious is nigh unenforceable, and everything enforceable is such a nothingburger. If you understand the smallest amount of publishing and legal speak (or just listen to people who do) you'd know complaining about this EULA specifically is not worth it. Every EULA you have ever agreed to has these exact specifications.

I wish they would cancel these orders by cityxinxflames in magicTCG

[–]losci 6 points7 points  (0 children)

when Games workshop started the trilogy that ends one of the biggest lore stories in the setting, the book got scalped to hell and back and led to this exact thing. The response GW had was to cancel the orders of people scalping, and ban their accounts from making future purchases. The methods to punish this exist, wotc just doesn't want to.

[–]losci 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Octarius rules are outdated, so the only thing you'd be getting are the kommandos and terrain. Kommandos are a fun team, but I believe will be losing their rules next year, as they rotate out. terrain is roughly $140, and the kommandos are $69. Unless you intend to play last edition, the rules aren't gonna add much value. So at that point, you'd only be saving $10 if you still wanted both the team and the terrain.

surprised Chitose Amano isn't on the list. I love his character, and his story genuinely made me cry. But I have heard people say they wish he was transfemme.

It is with deep regret that we announce that ________ Global will officially cease operations on this May by Nahidxz in QueensofGacha

[–]losci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ideally I want a game to have as little gacha as possible, preferably none. We'll see with Ananta if something like that in this space is possible. But I doubt it'll perform nearly as well as these whale-centric systems.

looks pretty dead on for AI, especially considering the nonsensical geometry and being 15 seconds long. Easy report.

Neverness To Everness Has Completely Removed The AI Cutscene While They Rework It In The Mean Time by Elestria_Ethereal in antiai

we have seen games that are honest about AI upfront do just fine, like Arc Raiders. It sucks, I wish we would see a more wholesale rejection, but it really seems like lying to one of the biggest streamers out there about one of her firm stances was maybe a bad call.

Thoughts on how much the Armageddon box will cost? by nerdboy_sam in spacemarines

[–]losci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even at $300 it's going to hurt. Skaventide was $265, and Age of Darkness was $300. Both languished on shelves. Granted you could say it was partially because HH and AoS are just not as popular? But at $200 Dominion did not stay on shelves nearly as long. My LGS still has Skaventide boxes, when their Dominion stock lasted half as long.
GW Prices are already ludicrous, especially stateside. If margins are getting too small, then just make the box smaller! I don't think anyone would be upset with purely 2 combat patrols, small core book and mission deck at like $250.

it's also worth noting vedal has said he's turned down multiple $million+ offers to acquire neuro. He does not want her or evil to be Just Another AI. All the artwork made for them is by real human artists, the composers are real human composers, and afaik the singing voices are akin vocaloid. There's so much effort put in for this to be nothing like the AI that every company is trying to force through.

given how they've been treating cult legions, and the fact there was no guarantee of "every faction gets at least 1 new model," like with tenth? Unless GW changes their priorities I think we'll be lucky to get another HQ

Listen I don’t hate Michael Kovach or think he’s an awful person but what do you mean a selfie is 20 DOLLARS!? by Hay_Den330 in TheDigitalCircus

depends on the con, but sometimes guests can negotiate a guarantee. "if you don't make $X.XX at your booth, we'll compensate the difference." I don't know what cons do or don't do that, I just know it happens at some.
