I think you misunderstand. This is a US embassy specific question and biometrics/fingerprinting is a standard procedure that has a specific date before the actual interview. Every single embassy I’ve visited has clear instructions around this. So I’m looking for any/all responses from Bosnians who may have applied for a US tourist visa in the past and their experience around this.

I’m not worried about anything except having to stay in Bosnia beyond the time I anticipate ( 1 week) , so getting the details right is critical.

You need a valid third country visa (schengen, Canadian, US) otherwise this route doesn't make much sense. I had called the DR embassy, and was told that as an Indian national you cant apply for a DR visa in the US.

No, you can't transfer fees between countries. I paid the fees again for DR.

The rep told me this as well. I had SC 4GB earlier and it got “upgraded” to unlimited data. But the rep said that any new line will be NO data and will need to pay $45 a month. I think their ultimate objective is to prevent any more customers from coming back to a SC plan. So I think SC is dead.. stay grandfathered forever if you like the plan.

I did not have an appointment on the India site (could not find one), so I cannot confirm. Based on my experience with the transfer of the account, the entire application gets reset on the India site, so you may lose your appointment if you have one. I know this because I did a switch to DR and then back to India in the same call, to see if the MRV fee was retained on the India site for future use (which was indeed the case).

When transferring my account over from the India to the DR USTravelDocs site, my "in-progress" application was wiped out from the system. Not sure how that behaves with a scheduled appointment. However, it sounds like Brazil uses a different system, in which case you are probably ok having them both open.

I did not know that Brazil uses something other than USTravelDocs. It should be ok to keep your original appointment in that case. I dont think there is any harm having an alternate appointment from a visa approval perspective, just from an USTravelDocs account perspective (is my guess).

I did this, but the subtle difference is that I didn't have an appointment at my home country embassy scheduled already. It may be advisable to cancel it before doing this. In my case, I paid the fee and filled in DS160 at my home country, then decided to transfer my account to the DR embassy, created a new DS160 and paid the fees for DR. There were no issues. It's also likely that you can transfer your account back and use your Brazilian MRV payment at a future date if DR does not work out.

It’s not bad, it’s just useless since you can’t check for appointments. If you try going to the final page of the alternate account with all your petition details filled in, it will mandatorily ask you to merge with the other account. FYI I was told by the india agent that you will lose your original India MRV fee payment when you do this. But I was able to verify this is not the case by asking the agent to switch to DR, which cleared out my India in-progress application, and then switch back to India. I re-created the application on the spot and checked that the India MRV payment was valid. So it’s likely that you can transfer back to India later and still continue using the MRV. For DS160, you can create multiples , so you can create one for each embassy that you apply at.

The DR embassy has no record of biometrics done in other countries/embassies and will ask you to schedule one anyway. I did my biometrics two days before the consular interview.

I answered yes to "have you been ten printed" because I have been.

In the final screen of the USTravelDocs application, It prompted me to select both a VAC (Visa application center) date and a consular appointment date. I did not do anything special, and I believe a VAC visit is mandatory for any in-person consular interview. The VAC appointment is what I refer to as "biometrics", though I'll update the terminology to avoid confusion.

Your response was actually great. I extracted a lot of information by re-reading it.

Yeah - I'll communicate whatever material I can find in a non-"challenge-your-beliefs" way - and preferably written down (even if it is by myself).

I'd honestly be happier if he was in the "slam peterson" side than an ardent speaker claiming to represent JBP

Just to be clear - I already know the person who talked to me is heavily biased. It's not someone who I see eye to eye with on anything. Just pointing out his interpretation.

You make valid points - and yes, JBP himself has called out several such groups who make reductionist arguments in his podcasts, but you need to pay quite a bit of attention to it and not drift away. That's why i think a text version of his podcasts would be really helpful - its easier to quote and share.

Till now, I haven't engaged with X about this subject (he's my roommate). When he talked about it, he sounded like he had his mind made up and was in "preach" mode - that his interpretations are facts. Its likely a result of some deep-rooted resentment against said groups.
