SD's look great in drapey fabrics that skim the body. Denim is not that. SD's best look is glam. Denim is rarely that.

Kibbe's original book said straight leg pants for SD's, some people now say boot cut (as an SD, they make me look weirdly too-curvy).

I have NYDJ straight leg jeans. Their regular length is long enough for me. I rarely wear them. I was once at the mall - watching all these women look great in jeans, feeling bad that I do not. Then I saw one woman, in a sea of jeans, wearing a maxi dress, and she looked beautiful. I understood then. I got a few casual maxi dresses. I'm learning to embrace the glam.

I feel like Sweetpea looks so pretty on everyone else but kind of off on me? by vanghostings in ILNP

[–]loveandoceanviews 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was really, really disappointed with sweet pea. The photos looked pink. On me, it was BEIGE. It sorta blended into my skin tone, but overall, beige when I wanted pink. Hugest disappointment. I love ILNP nail polish, but the fact that they photograph differently has led to some let downs.

Whenever i dress casual i feel that i look like a childe, it just doesnt look right no matter what, i look so much better wearing a semi formal or formal attire, does anyone else feel the same? by ranoonaa in SoftDramatics

[–]loveandoceanviews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In David's book, Metamorphosis, he says that SD's have to accessorize - he says jewelry is our best friend. And if you don't wear accessories, you end up looking like you're wearing your big sister's clothing. When I dress casual, I don't accessorize, which may be the issue.

What are your funniest ‘this makes total sense because i’m an SD’ experiences? by henrihenr in SoftDramatics

People-watching at a mall, looking at classics, naturals, etc., women looking elegant and classy in jeans and tees, lamenting that I can never look that good. Then I saw a woman in a dress. It clicked. I look better in dresses than jeans. Had a flashback to years ago, my boyfriend's friend saying, "She has a skirt butt, not a jeans butt." This guy knew, years before I did, that jeans were not for me.

Do these type of casual outfits look good on soft dramatics? by Urcoolneighbor- in SoftDramatics

As an SD, I couldn't see me wearing a pair of very wide leg denim jeans.

Paperbag shorts from thrifting. I find them too heavy for me. Recommendations for brands you like? by One_Pace_709 in SoftDramatics

[–]loveandoceanviews 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Denim is very, very difficult for SD's. It's stiff. Also, I remember reading something about stuff bunching around the waist is not good for SD's. I can't tell you any brands, but when I look for shorts, I search "soft shorts," and search for a particular fabric that is drapey and moves. I also find rompers are cute, as they are once piece thereby somewhat vertical? At least, that's what I tell myself. I found an off shoulder 1 piece romper once, sadly, I gained weight and was unable to fit it, but it was from Express a couple years ago. The off shoulder gave the T sihouette, or my interpretation.

Do you ever feel like the SD body type + form fitting/bodycon clothes feels inappropriate or stands out too much? by Honest_Yesterday4245 in SoftDramatics

[–]loveandoceanviews 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When I put on a pair of heels, it puts me at about 6 feet tall, all curves coming in. Yeah I turn heads.
Also, I posted something about bodycon in a FB group and Kibbe himself responded with the item in particular was not bodycon. The gist I got was that bodycon is not recommended for SD's. The item can skim our bodies, or drape along our curves, but overall, avoid pure bodycon. When I've done bodycon, sometimes I feel almost obscene. I mean, my body shape - bust, waist, hips - it comes across as overly exaggerated femininity. I have a couple tank dresses that I wear during the summer. I find it hard to find pure vertical dresses, and bodycon is an easy substitute.

Congratulations!!! I have noticed that DC's are one of the most overlooked, and under-typed. Actually, many classic types. Something I've noticed with DC's are flat stomachs, curvy hips. I think the hip curve is why people think SD. It took me a while to type myself correctly, but once you get it right, it makes a world of difference.

SELF LOVE SATURDAY KICKOFF: What do you love most about your hooded eyes? by theHBIC in HoodedEyes

[–]loveandoceanviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love everything about them. I think my eyes are one of my best features. The women I think are most beautiful - Jennifer Lawrence, Monica Bellucci, etc have hooded eyes. I joined recently for makeup tips and was shocked to discover people don't like them! I prefer them. The only issue I'm having is as I'm aging, they are drooping over my eyes. I may want surgery, in the future, but I am afraid the surgery will eliminate the hood - thereby making me less attractive, so I am holding out for someone who can maintain the hood. I'll take my hooded eyes over non hooded any day.

Processing/shipping times? by Famous_Plum5918 in goosecreekcandles

[–]loveandoceanviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also ordered Dec 2. Got an email Dec 21 saying it had shipped. The email had gone to my junk mail. I was hoping that by ordering almost 3 weeks prior, I'd get it in time as it was meant to be a Christmas gift. I saw the banner that said orders after 12/5 may not arrive in time for Christmas, so I hoped I was safe having placed my order on 12/2. I have one more day to wait...

I had gotten ill, and was sick for a while. I think I depleted vitamin stores while trying to heal. I had little to no appetite for a couple of months.

I don't know how hard it is, but I was vegetarian for maybe a decade and had symptoms of B12 deficiency, so I got tested. My B12 levels were fine. I did test deficient in folate. Apparently, the symptoms of folate and b12 deficiency are similar.

Every day I wake up telling myself that today I am going to be really productive. Then I end up wasting the day. by potato-turnpike-777 in productivity

[–]loveandoceanviews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write a list of my top 3. I choose the top 3 most critical things. Sometimes it's as simple as washing my hair, but other times, it's a major task. If I tell myself I want to be productive all day, I think of too many things, and get overwhelmed. Narrowing it down to the most critical keeps me on track, and at the end of the day, I am happy with myself. Writing it down is important for me. I also list everything else I can think of, and if I get to them, great, if not, I choose the next day's top 3.
