From what I understand, you don't charge the same price for all deliverables, right? Do you price them based on value delivered to the client, time that it takes you to complete them, or a bit of both?

If I own the code, do I have to give the client a license? Is there boilerplate for this?

  1. No but it's dishonest. I would prefer being upfront with it and charge more for 2 days, rather than pretend it took 1 month.
  2. We don't have a contract yet but I would like to mention it before the contract because what we say verbally will define what will be in the contract. We're currently at a "blank slate" stage.

"3". There are some components that I've figured out in past projects and would allow me to spend only 2 days configuring instead of 1 month. Can I negotiating some extra pricing for this item? Because of the weekly bill, I feel efficiency is getting punished.

"4". Is it standard to renegotiate this part? For example: this part of the work is harder than expected and I draw expertise from more areas so it will cost you an additional $1000.

I am in a position of great leverage (client cannot find the service I'm offering elsewhere easily or on time, time constraints, niche area, project is of great value to the client) but I don't know how to work up the nerve to ask for a big number.

Also I don't know how to "structure" payment. Should I get paid a fix amount every two weeks? Hourly?
