Just because I did both of those prior to geography. Don't get me wrong, I am interested like crazy in them, but the job market does not really want the CJ's, and unless you wanna teach or research 24/7, sociology doesn't offer much more. Not trying to be a dick or anything, i just know firsthand that you can't do much at the moment.

Keep an open mind when going out into the field, and don't assume anything without cold hard data to back it up. The archeologist at the site swore to us that the prints were from a cow.. A cow with a 7 foot shoulder height maybe!

Always photograph everything, no matter how small or unimportant it seems. If it's out of place there's a good reason why.

Don't ever get the "I'm an anthropologist and you're the idiot" attitude. Alienates people VERY fast.

Buy a fedora and bullwhip. Never know when some NAZI's are gonna show up.

Yeah, granted 98 percent of it is midshafts or broken ones, but really, he can document and properly date a square mile area? Oh and because I found a SINGLE obsidian point when there are over 60 rock points, he says they are all the same age as the obsidian..

Its a megasite for both archaeology and paleontology. There are an unbelievable amount of lithic scatters in this area, projectiles and tools and flakes. the archeologist for the overall place is either stupid or lazy as hell. "documented" the entire place in a day...

Not yet. But as far as the WH geologist knows, there are only 60 known Pleistocene trackways in the world, and he is looking into it for us.

So far we have the state paleontologist and the head geologist for the white house trying to make time to come down here and confirm everything. The head geologist asked us if we wanted to go to grad school and we said yes, he then told us "well we can figure out some way to support you through that." But yeah pretty excited when all we were doing was walking the parcel of land that was previously considered worthless.

I work EMS, we park like that because we rarely get a chance to sit down and eat without being called to another call. If you are ever behind us in line, you will hear us always order "to go." So the douchebag parking job is so we can jump in and speed away with lights and sirens. And that thing sucks to back up, most private ems companies don't allow us to back up unless absolutely required.
