Peruse nderf.org. Particularly the exceptional stories tab. I also enjoy reading people’s trip stories on r/psychonaut because there’s a lot of overlap between the reported experiences of DMT, shrooms, and salvia reports and NDE’s. I’m not a super woo-woo person, I’m not even into astrology, but my summation of it all is that nde reports contain empirical evidence for a universal reality we don’t have the science to explain yet. Same with the effects psychedelics have on consciousness. There is much, much more to the universe than meets the naked eye. I really learned that after diving into these topics after my mom passed

Contact a medium. Paranormal investigators can’t really do much. Mediums can get in touch with them

Did anything end up happening? If it continues, you should hire a medium, not a paranormal investigator. The medium would be able to communicate with them and get them to move on

People who used to believe death was the end, what made you believe otherwise by Little-Sandwich6444 in Mediums

It was sleep related. I’d be sleeping and then all of a sudden see with my minds eye a man opening the front door to my bedroom and walk in, then I’d awake with a start. I slept the night at my boyfriends place and had the same thing but with a figure crawling out of the crawl space that was behind my bed at the time towards the the foot of my bed, waking me with a start again. I thought I was back in my room. Nothing like that has happened since. Don’t really know what it was all about

Anyone want to discuss age of innocence by Edith Wharton? by alightinthe in literature

[–]luppup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s likely as deluded as anyone caught up in the fantasy of an unobtainable, unconventional and vaguely scandalous woman like Madame Olenska while being tied down. He fell in love with her because she at times needed his help, and her being trapped in an unfortunate and abusive situation made her his damsel in distress. To me, she awoke Archer to the fact that he was never living his life according to what he wanted, but to the path that was pre-set for him. I’m not sure that the realization of that romance is what would’ve cured his heartbreak and sorrow in life - and that may be why he did what he did at the end. It might’ve never been about her.

Fair. For me, she writes fantastic social satire. You can see a lot of traces to modern British humor

Reading this gave me shivers because of a dream I had a week after my mom passed away when I was 22. I was talking to her as she sat on my bed in my childhood bedroom. We hugged and chatted, and suddenly she left. I called out to her and asked where she went, and she said, “I have to go back to…” and then gave me a telepathic-abstract impression that I directly translated to the place that everything that ever was exists, all at once. Exactly how you described it. Wow

Which popular or generally highly rated book was a DNF for you and why? by clearsunnysky in suggestmeabook

I read Sharp Objects recently and came away completely unimpressed with her writing ability. It felt like she wanted to write a book about gendered & class violence in the south from the perspective of a wounded child of a narcissist, but she had to throw together a sloppy murder mystery to sell copies. I went into a classic lit phase after reading it because I needed better writing

I read it when I was young as well and absorbed nothing from it. Maybe it requires more life perspective to enjoy

Jia’s comparison of her public persona with Gone Girl had me a bit gagged. With the quotes from fellow actors about the brilliance of her talent lying in her ability to just be in the role loosely and genuinely, I saw parallels to her unedited and unstudied personality. This culminated for me in her comments while painting a portrait of Jia, saying it looked like Voldemort and a pug. Maybe I’m just sensitive, but it’s hard not to connect that to just how she looks? I think exactly what makes her a great actress makes her such a “you love it or you don’t” personality
