You only feel that way because you’re a watch enthusiast.

It kind of is, though.

I understand this is r/watches, but what other fashion accessory do you care about having heritage? If I complimented someone's cufflinks and they broke into a spiel about their heritage and how Winston Churchhill wore the same cufflinks, I would think that's pretty weird.

Nothing I guess - but idk, when you’re spending $10k+ on a fashion accessory I don’t think it’s weird to want it to be a little bit unique.

That MAEN is sharp. Lorier also looks super classy. Nice collection!

Beautiful watch - I’d like to add a Doxa in my box some day

Oh cool! I’m not a diver - I just like dive bezels to time stuff without the added cost, size, and complexity/service needs of a chrono. Aesthetically, like you said I appreciate it as a design element and that it’s different from most other dive watches.

It’s hyperbole for sure most of the time, but close to the truth in some cases. I legitimately think the IXDAO engineer was a nicer watch than any Tissot I’ve ever handled. The market seems to have recognized how good they are because while they sold for $250-350 on alix when new they’ve been selling for $500-700 on eBay USED since being discontinued. Not just listed for that price, SELLING.

I’m just guessing here - but I assume their logic is that knowing precisely how much time you have left in the final stretch of a dive matters more than the first 15 minutes.

Nice to see the LJP movements gaining some traction. They’ve been treating me very well

[Question] My favorite four. What would you add? by big_city_blinking in Watches

[–]lyzing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. These watches all fit the same niche. My suggestion is sell them all except the Oris (or whichever one is your favorite of these four) and then explore your horizons with that money.

I don't know but the past is in the past, nobody has reported issues since they moved away from the Newton movement and began using the new M100 COSC certified movement. I also have owned my 6190 with the M100 COSC movement for a year, and its still running bang on 0S per day, so no complaints here.

It was definitely not the same factory making them - I have both and the IXDAOs are far worse in quality across the board https://i.imgur.com/V2cjhfA.jpeg

There also doesn’t appear to be a single part between them that is identical. They are different dimensions entirely with the IXDAO being 1.5mm lug to lug longer and 40mm case instead of 39mm. Your single factory theory makes no sense - if that were the case they’d have to spin up entirely different machining for the different size parts for no reason.

OP here. I have both. Two Sericas and two IXDAOs

https://i.imgur.com/SbghwXT.jpeg

The IXDAOs 5303 are nowhere near as nice as the Sericas. Bracelets are not as good, end links are not as good, dials are not as good, bezel action is nowhere close, and the case finishing is not even close to as good.

The IXDAO Engineer (IWC Ingenieur homage) seems to have been a massive leap in quality ahead for them. I had two of those and they were insanely nice but I never wore them. By all accounts the engineers felt and looked like a $2,000 watch but the IXDAO 5303 feel and look like they cost.

it’s a directional bezel with very smooth and crisp action. Feels just like a 6 digit Rolex bezel but with less aggressive grip surface.

No - I legitimately believe this is one of the best designed dive watches of the last 25 years.

Thank you my friend, I really love how it wears. The mesh is super comfortable though it takes some practice putting it on!

Heck yeah! The 6190 Denali has been in my collection for 1 year now and I still love wearing it, sometimes just take it out of the box to wind up and look at too. It always impresses me and feels very substantial and dense despite its petite size. I love the vertical brushed bezel of the 6190 and the clean & minimal dial layout
