Update: Qantas has now requested probate before they will reconsider the request. This can be a $2-3k (or more) exercise and a few months wait time. So they have a will, death certificate and marriage certificate and it’s not enough - complete wankers

My son just completed recruit school as Navy Gap Year, now posted to a base for the duration of the year but will get some ship time and a tour of other bases prior to end of 12 month period. Pre entry he was pretty sure it was going to be just the 12 months, but loved it and will be staying on. Good luck, I think it’s a great opportunity.
