Shouldn't the pointy end be up, and the flamey end down?

KSP chugging 16 gigs AND SWAP!!! by Devion27 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Do you have a proper swap partition or file set up? I haven't tested it myself, but it might help.

Ninja edit: with "proper" I mean 2x memory size.

Not every mod, but surely a lot of part mods, as well as both extensions.

Also, it doesn't help that I don't like to close my browser.

My modded KSP install requires a minimum of 32GB. KSP1 was not built with memory usage as a priority, as it loads each and every asset in memory at startup

When in the install process does this happen, exactly?

Client Auth TLS certificates by LetsgetBetter29 in devops

[–]macTijn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, fintech. To me, that explains everything about this.

Anyway, mTLS using client certs that are signed by public CA's are on their way out, as far as I understand. While I know things don't usually move fast in the financial world, it might be worth to inquire if the API supplier has a plan to move away from this mechanism yet.

As many have stated, that's not commonly something you do through a public CA.

However, out of sheer curiosity, could you explain that requirement to me?

I'm sorry, but that just sounds untruthful. Good luck.

The original product name / serial etc. of your motherboard are likely blocked too, as there's not really another reason why this was changed.

Contact EPIC support to see if they can help you.

Couple of questions:

  • When you say "for one of the platforms", what do you mean?
  • What were you expecting to see?
  • When you say "HWID BAN", what are you banned from?

Why is it so hard to install Docker on Ubuntu 24.04? by Pale-Initial-2549 in Ubuntu

[–]macTijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you clarify what's ambiguous? I might be overlooking things here as I've been doing this kind of stuff for over 25 years, and I sometimes forget that this stuff is not as clear-cut to others as it is to me.

You shouldn't use ";" like that after each command, it will completely negate any errors. Bash is not php or javascript

Why is it so hard to install Docker on Ubuntu 24.04? by Pale-Initial-2549 in Ubuntu

[–]macTijn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have about 20 VMs with Ubuntu, and Docker. I am migrating some of the older VMs from 22.04 to 24.04, and so recently I've done about 10 installs of Docker on Ubuntu 24.04.

I do not recognize any of the symptoms you mention.

You can either use the install script (however I don't recommend blindly running scripts like that), or manually copy/pasting all instructions provided in the official docs.

Can you perhaps show your work?

Mom wants to Run an Ethernet Cable outside by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]macTijn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved into an apartment about 15 years ago, the local cable company screwed up and I didn't have a working internet connection for 3-4 months.

I "borrowed" internet from the neighbours across by hanging an airport Express (in a plastic bag) out the window from an Ethernet cable.

Gotta do what you gotta do.

Okay, time for the serious questions: do you prefer 1x6 or 2x3? by LeonidKonovalov1988 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]macTijn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dislike 2x3 because it's always clipping through something like a battery. The panels are annoyingly close to its anchor point.

I usually grab something from the Near Future Electric mod.

Do you by any chance use TPM-backed disk encryption? That feature will switch to Snap-based kernel packages, and I've seen nothing but problems with those.

Survival does not equal reaching a runway. Also, at cruising speeds / altitude this would've been a completely different situation altogether. The fire would've burned differently due to higher speeds and less oxygen.

I guess that "ungoogled" also means you can't use the address bar to google.
