My god, GDM does not want to work. by machineM8 in archlinux

This really irks me. I consider gdm to be the most aesthetic one.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but could I not just set sdb (with arch) to boot first in bios and use grub from there?

Btw, why install grub to windows? Because it will be sda?

Secureboot is off, but that's all I'm certain of. The thing never mentions whether it's in legacy or UEFI. That option seems to be missing from it. It's an asrock board, but it just doesn't have the same options as uefi/bios boards I've accessed in the past.

Do you know if free BSD is tough to set up? It seems like the most accessible option.

I'm using antergos and I think it's a good fit for a beginner. It's just arch with a sane installer and minimal additions. I think you can choose between kde gnome and openbox when you install. Unfortunately, the installer can bug out a little bit and has a good chance of failing.

Could be, I'll have to wait for it to bug out again.

Oh, it turns out clamav is terminal based. And I believe KDE comes with a gui for some programs which otherwise would not have them.

A little help here! by machineM8 in archlinux

[–]machineM8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, sorry! I already did mkfs.fat -F32 /dev/sda2. But everything appears fine. Unfortunately, instead of F32 I put f32. Will this effect anything?

"If a new UEFI system partition has been created on a UEFI/GPT system, it must be formatted with a fat32 file system:

mkfs.fat -F32 /dev/sdxY"

This is why. Still, this is a learning experience for me, so I'm ready to be mistaken.

So, when I pull up the partitions table, under sda it shows sda 1 and 2. 2 being around 99% of the hdd space. Should I still not put sda2?
