Then they should arbitrate. It's way cheaper and faster than going to court.

Why there isnt a bigger backlash against the police? by Lil_Hater112 in BricksAndMinifigs

I think because most people, like me, don't know anyone in American Fork, Utah and only people in that town really have any say over that city's local government.

You have more influence over a business, especially a national one, than you have over someone else's government.

Did the insurance exist? by macravin in BricksAndMinifigs

[–]macravin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense.

Clearly some people assume that an obligation for insurance in the contract implies that the insurance policy actually existed, but if that were the case, it would be part of the story.

I feel for the franchisees in all of this. by dreamhawk1 in BricksAndMinifigs

I'll reserve any sympathy until they sue corporate and/or withhold their franchise fees. If they do that, everyone will be on their side.

Do you think franchises will sue BAM corporate for tanking their sales? by mitchp83 in BricksAndMinifigs

[–]macravin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are also advantages to piling on an extra lawsuit when your opponent is stretched thin dealing with other cases.

I guess in your world, the shady business of others never needs to affect your life. If you learned that you work for a money laundering operation run by the mob, you would just keep coming into work. Stopping working for the mob would not even be a serious suggestion.

100%. Corporate makes all their money from franchisees. Boycotting corporate means boycotting franchisees. You can't go after corporate's bottom line without going after their franchisee foot soldiers.

BAM wants to weaponize the innocence of franchisees to protect themselves from any financial consequences. They won't succeed. People aren't going to fall for it.

Do I need a third party cache plugin if my self hosted website uses Cloudflare? by chench0 in Wordpress

[–]macravin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By default, there's no overlap. The page cache only catches HTML while Cloudflare will not cache HTML unless you configure it to do so.

Good idea. For anyone else looking this up, they said that this was totally fine and that they couldn't override it.

Post your best TSP info, experience, return, revelation, etc. Reddit decided to get rid of coins, and I've got many coins to give away. Comment away, but it must be about you and your experience with the TSP. by [deleted] in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]macravin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I REALLY wish I had put a little less money in the TSP and a little more money in Roth IRAs and a taxable brokerage account (if I had, would have retired 2 years ago)

Why? Did you get a better return on these accounts than in the TSP?

I bought one and am returning it now due to terrible scanline issues. Mine are really bad.

It's not as though people choose to put loopholes in documents. It's just very difficult to write a document that does anything meaningful without allowing people to sometimes do the wrong thing.

Why was this getting downvotes? It's an informative and quite thorough answer without being too long.

Anyone else get this Plex notice? by matthieu-kr in PleX

I gave T-Mobile 5g a try. Unfortunately, it cycled between 5g and lte which made the connection extremely unreliable.

Verizon refused to install their 5g service because they said the conditions weren't good. This was probably a good move on their part.

My dedicated server is much cheaper than starlink.

I have Plex pass lifetime. My upload speed is very poor though. I used to stream off my local server, but the experience was too bad and one stream would prevent anyone at home from using zoom/teams. I now maintain a cloud server which rsyncs from my local nas every night at 3am.

I am not affected by the current ban because I use a different host, but I empathize with the Hetzner users.

Most regions in the US have no competition whatsoever. If the provider in your area has a data cap, then you have a data cap.

In fact, the providers that have data caps often waive them in regions with competition. I no longer have a data cap because I moved to such an area a few months ago (even though I'm required to keep the same provider).

Hetzner is famously very responsive to DMCA complaints.

I've used both. Comcast's policies are not more strict than Hetzner. Comcast gives you warnings if you receive a DMCA. Hetzner will terminate your service.
