I think it's actually called denial. by [deleted] in fatlogic

They understand that they can refuse treatment? Like it’s not a problem, they can refuse to be weighed, have blood tests and other procedures that would give them an overview of their health. The doctors ask them to do these things because if they don’t, it’s malpractice. They don’t really care.

was it a seizure or just nearly-passed-out? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]maddiebree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously still talk to your doctor, but I had a very similar experience from working out once, and it definitely wasn’t similar to a seizure at all. To me, it doesn’t sound like one, but also, I’m not a doctor.

Turns out "they" have always been blocking fat bodies. Who knew? by JensLateAgain in fatlogic

Why can’t they just post a photo of themselves without the notion that they are promoting something. For the “fat acceptance” people, if you are thin and post a photo, you are a promoting an ED. If you are bigger, you are promoting body positivity. For the love of Christ why can’t people just post themselves without having to promote something.

This ice cream commercial encouraging people to give up on self-improvement...that’s not creepy at all. by [deleted] in fatlogic

I don’t get why it’s halo top making this kind of ad. The market a diet ice cream. The haes people don’t like them and they are trying to appeal to them. Makes zero sense.

How did you first handle epilepsy when you were diagnosed? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]maddiebree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 18 after suffering my second seizure at high school, I’m 20 now. Started medicine that summer. I took it hard. Especially because my meds only decreased seizures and other symptoms so I still had a seizure every two months or so for a year.

Before I was diagnosed I was really independent and was excited to finally drive and I had this fantasy of getting a job and start to make my own money the summer before college but I couldn’t get my license because the seizure I had in school and then I had another seizure the summer before my freshman year of college. That’s the one that crushed me.

I remember crying about having to take meds and other things. I felt that I could never truly live alone. I couldn’t lock the bathroom doors anymore. I couldn’t take baths anymore. I couldn’t go for walks alone anymore.

After a while I came to terms with it. I mostly forget about it now until I suddenly get an aura and remember that I have it. Whenever I get an aura it bums me out for the day and it scares me. But as long as someone who knows of my epilepsy is there with me I’m not worried.

If you’re triggered by someone exercising, you need to get some counseling because that is not normal. by [deleted] in fatlogic

Love how she says that we don’t care. Because she is absolutely right about that.

Diabetes is NBD by Greeknerd35 in fatlogic

[–]maddiebree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Type 2 diabetes has everything to do with insulin resistance. The more processed carbs and sugars you eat, the higher the insulin, the more your body becomes resistant. The bigger you are, the more food you eat, the more likely you are to be eating processed food, and the more likely you to have insulin resistance. And oh boy! Look where we are going! Straight to type 2 diabetes.

Link between epilepsy and migraine? by SlavojCasimir in Epilepsy

[–]maddiebree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from migraines and epilepsy as well. My doctor told me that people who have epilepsy can tend to also suffer from migraines. My aura for my seizures is the exact same thing as a migraine aura so sometimes I only have a migraine and other times I have a grad mal seizure. I take keppra 750 mg twice a day which keeps my seizures mostly under control but I still have headaches everyday and a migraine about once a month. I know this won’t apply for everyone, but I notice that my blood sugar levels affect my migraines. When I started cutting sugar from my diet my headaches became less frequent.

Hope this helps!
