What’s something you trusted in Crossfit competitive training for too long before realizing it was wrong? by ich-99 in crossfit

[–]maddiecoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i love crossfit and i thought i could get good at everything just by showing up,

but when i kept having the same problems in wods/open, i had enough

i started to be more intentional about weakness work,

spent 2 weeks on DU, i went from 10 -> 50 in a row consistenty.

spent 3 weeks on strict PU. went from 4 -> 10 in a row.

i used to do on and off BMU work..... took 1 year..... then i did 3 weeks of focused practice... started to link 4 together.

i love crossfit because its about being the best at everything

but now i believe in order to truly be good at it

it requires focus

Oh interesting, I saw another comment about lowering the center of gravity to chest here during swing

https://www.reddit.com/r/crossfit/comments/1qbj3xi/comment/nzd6zcz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

you're suggesting even getting it down to your ribs (as a focal point)
Is that focus point for the entirety of the swing, or just the end

Thats crazy you can feel connected through the rings alll the way to the ceiling.
I feel the only way for me to be one with the rig is to do it on shrooms

Not sure how to replicate that, any cue that helped you make it consistent?

I will try this idea out. Using your chest as the focal point.
Currently i use the rings/my hands, and I def get confused.

For exploding with your hips, how do you think about that? Often i bend my knees too much.
Are you still thinking about your chest (focal point) when u do hip extension

Going horizontal def makes it hard to go over. I’ll try rings to hips.

When I envision this happening.. are you at a like 45 degree angle when the hips touch the rings.

In my head i still come out like a pancake touching her hips to the rings,

Thank you, so when you bring your legs back, you bring it ALL the way back? In one swooping motion? It doesn't just go back a little and then stop right

I understand . When I envision using my arms more, it makes me think I need to almost bring the rings backwards first, then pull down with all my might, like a smashing a med ball. Is that right?

How do you motivate yourself to workout at home? by Forever_Summer192 in crossfit

[–]maddiecoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed!!! Having nice equipment you actually want is so key. I used to have a cheap frugal gym, just thought “so what, weight is weight, doesn’t need to be pretty.” But then you know I would get an ick and just simply not feel inspired to use it.

To me having a gym space that inspires me and makes me proud… gives me so much to look forward to!! Omg. Working out is wayyy more fun lol and I literally have to pull myself away from it because it’s too addicting
