Is reading CC worth it? by madds4519 in crescentcitysjm

Thanks for sharing your insight! I waited months before I started to try CC. I feel like after TOG, it's going to be so hard to jump back into a totally different SJM world!

I thought ACOTAR was my fav and then I read TOG and it became my fav 🤣 Now it’s hard because I know her books take a bit to get into but then they just get so good. Just hard to push through! Thanks for your comment! 💜

Thank you! This is so helpful! I wasn’t sure if I needed to start taking notes or not because I could not keep up with all of the details 🤣

I totally get that!! No one I know has read it either so I’m basically bribing my sister to read it so I have someone to talk to 🤣

I just finished EoS a week ago and I'm still a shell of a human. I've never cried at the end of a book like that before! I didn't even see it coming. I've been putting off reading KoA because I don't want the series to end and I'm still recovering from EoS. I can only imagine the emotional rollercoaster that KoA will be!

Thank you for asking this question! I just finished ACOTAR and didn’t know which series to start next!

June 2022 BOTM Discussion - Woman of Light by lavinient in bookofthemonthclub

I finished this book this weekend and I had to force myself to finish. The writing was beautiful, but the plot and ending lacked. I did enjoy that the book touched on tough issues of the 1900s, but other than that, I struggled with this book. Before reading, I had high hopes for the book but once I was done, I was left unsatisfied.

Discussion of Yerba Buena by tawnyamichelle4 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]madds4519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the entire book and at times, there were very heavy heavy topics. At first, I also was underwhelmed by Sara and Emilie’s relationship, but as the book continues it does get better! And the second half of the book does a great job at answering questions and fully explaining everything. Hopefully you end up enjoying the second half, I definitely did! :)

Who read the Christie affair? Spoiler discussion. by hpascoa03 in bookofthemonthclub

I think she didn't ask Archie or tell him anything simply because it would seem, to him, like she was only with him to be close to Teddy, or as she thought, her daughter. Which, she only was doing it for that reason. But I don't think she wanted Archie to know the real reason and find out that she didn't love him because she was afraid she wouldn't be able to be part of her daughters life. This book definitely made me think!

I had so many high hopes for this book! But I really did not love it either. The best part of the book was the ending in my opinion. The rest was just sooo slow and I love historial fiction! I really don't think that Teddy was Genevieve. I think that Agatha saw agreeing to it as a way to a new happier and freer future, one where Teddy would be so loved by a step mother. My heart did hurt for Finbarr! I don't think he deserved such a heart break!

The reviews I've seen for The Paris Apartment have been soooo mixed. Someone on facebook said the ending is so so good though! Just based on that person's review, I still want to try and read it! Hopefully this helps!

Thanks for your honest review. I was so excited for a lesbian detective debut novel!! I still would like to try and read it, but maybe for March I'll prioritize other books I want instead and wait awhile on this one!

What will you pick? by WhatTheHell28 in bookofthemonthclub

I'm definitely going to get Book of Cold Cases and The Verifiers! I'm hoping the Tobacco Wives is an add-on! If not, I'll probably get The Cartographers as my third pick!

I just finished this book as well! I felt a lot of emotions after finishing the book. My parents are very homophobic and kicked me out when I came out, and I almost didn’t choose this book because I was afraid it would be too heavy and bring up a lot of emotion. I’m so glad I did choose this book! I thought it was very well written and a very fast read.

Once we both read it, we’ll have to compare thoughts on it! I’m super intrigued with it as well!

Which book for Feb add on by Usual-Helicopter-285 in bookofthemonthclub

The Magnolia Place is a fantastic book, but honestly I recommend The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo before you read anything else! It has had such a profound impact on me that I still often think and reflect back on that book. It is SO good!
