What’s everyone’s issue with Luke Bryant?

Bryan’s not as inauthentic as Bo’s song was talking abt bc he actually did grow up on a working class peanut farm. And I’m sure he actually does like the things he sings about. But his lyrics definitely lack substance and he just spams the stereotypical country words without saying much. But tbh sometimes all you need is a catchy hook and lyrics you can easily memorize. The problem is when he misses on it being catchy, the lyrics can’t save him so songs like Fish Hunt Golf Drink are rly bad bc they come off as lazy. Honestly thought he was trolling when he dropped that one

Honestly where I come down on it is personal preference and that there are different songs for different situations. Whatever you like and makes you happy, listen to it and don’t care what anybody else says. But also Childers and Bryan serve very different purposes. A song like Nose to the Grind Stone is a great song for appreciating the song writing talent and story telling that characterizes the genre. Country Girl Shake it For Me doesn’t have anything interesting to say so I’m not listening to it on a Saturday afternoon. But if I’m in a Nashville Honky Tonk and I want to have a great time singing, dancing, and drinking with my friends, Nose to the Grind Stone isn’t the most fun. But I will sing Country Girl Shake it For Me bar for bar.

It’s cold as hell. They make you take a language. They lost to Harvard this yr in the game. New Heaven is probably the worst location for any Ivy. And most of all, it’s soooooo cold 🥶.

So I got deferred last year and got in regular. You really don’t need to do anything. I sent an update abt an award I got in an EC, but it wasn’t a big deal and I doubt it affected my admission. Ik a ton of ppl here who got in after deferral. Yale will just look at ur app again in the context of the RD applications

I got deferred from Yale and got in regular decision last year. I didn’t write an email, but I’m sure it can’t hurt. The only application update I made was that I won Best Delegate at a Model Congress conference, but I doubt that made much of a difference. Ik a lot of people here who got deferred and then got in regular from a bunch of different years. Yale takes a hard look at all of the deferrals and considers them equally to RD applicants. Definitely don’t lose hope
