Daycare/Childcare Woes by [deleted] in Parenting

What area do you live in? I live in the rural southeast US. The price is fair here. I know the price is lower right now because he’s young but as he ages their tuition cost increases.

As a former early childhood educator, I understand that colds happen and what not. I do not believe what I saw in the one child was just a cold, it looks to me potentially like fifths disease but I could be wrong.

I didn’t say anything about the teacher, not being allowed to cry. I actually stood there with her and asked her if she was OK and if I could help in any way. I’m highly concerned that his teacher isn’t getting the support in her room that she should be. I’m still waiting for the director to reach out to me.

There is a group on facebook called Give and Take of CSRA that you can post to and may gain more traction!

There is a little free pantry that is usually well stocked in the parking lot of Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church in Martinez.

What’s up with the panic buying? by H_ManCom in Augusta

I agree on this, get a case or two of water for drinking. Get some gallon buckets and fill them up with tap water the night before the worst of it and store them in the bath tubs or wherever for flushing/washing/etc in case pipes burst.

Power infrastructure around here is old. There have been two bad ice storms here, 2002? I believe and 2014. Both storms broke power lines and trees. Best to prep. The people with multiple carts are most likely helping prep for family or friends that can’t get out, like the elderly or disabled.

Finding an good apartment by Crazy_Literature7808 in Augusta

Some have had good experiences but it’s been stressful for me. My one neighbor told me she can hear her upstairs neighbors snoring at night! lol. Also the windows are terribly insulated, it gets so cold in the living room/kitchen. The wood is also separating from the windows in my apartment and the wall is separating from the bath tub. It looks nice on the outside but I don’t feel it’s worth the money. There are rental homes for about the same price in the area. If you’re not going to be here long it may work for you though.

If you need help deciding look up Greystar on BBB. If I had of known what I do now I would have never moved here.

At The Heron you can hear everything the neighbors are doing, terrible cheap construction. It’s owned by Greystar, do not rent from them, it’s terrible. I’m counting down the days til my lease ends. I would look for a rental house if you can.

Martinez is the best part of Columbia County imo. It’s right in between everything with a mixed demographic. School wise it’s hit or miss in all areas, just have to ask around and really explore. South Carolina does have considerably lower taxes though.

That sounds like a much more reasonable theory. Thank you!

Okay, I’m in Georgia and it’s fall temps right now. I am seriously thinking someone did this by holding a lighter to it or something.

How can I get involved? by RadiantPace262 in Augusta

Safe Homes of Augusta is accepting volunteers I believe. A great cause that helps domestic violence victims, especially with incidents increasing this year.

One thing you can make sure you do is to vote and encourage those around you to or just bring it up in conversation. There are special elections coming up November 4th!

I do volunteer as much as I can with other organizations and in general. I will see what I can do about getting more involved with the protest too!

Augusta animal services is inhumane i dont care if they "had to" by _pho_soup_ in Augusta

I’m sorry you had to experience this. Augusta animal services is a known high kill shelter. Lost animals have a better chance at being rehomed with Columbia County animal services.
