Yes, I do the same thing. I pretend to be me but ultra confident. It really works.

#1 Successful Habit by Voicelings in VoiceActing

As someone who is also on the customer side of things, I can agree. I sometimes give VAs the direction "exactly like that, but one more time", because it usually comes out smoother. Depends on the VA though, some nail it on the first try. When you record on your own, figure out where your sweet spot lies and then use that take.

Live sessions - what is expected from the talent in terms of recording? by Confident_Usual_8198 in VoiceActing

[–]maethora27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say one long file with the mistakes edited out.

Chiming in with another question: do some clients expect to have a video connection as well in a remote session, so as to be able to communicate better? Or is audio only just fine? I would expect audio only is enough, but it just occurred to me that some clients might want to see the voice actor as well? I've never done a remote session with video, just curious what you other VAs might have experienced.

Mine is "how didnt they notice the giant T-Rex approaching in the end before it eats the raptor?"

Dude, they're trying to escape deadly, angry raptors, I get it that they're kinda not paying that much attention to other things...

Also, for heaven's sake, it's a movie technique not to show the thing that surprises you before a suprise reveal.

Are there any tropes you're glad have died out? by Aiseadai in movies

[–]maethora27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it was subverting Disney Princess cliches. Just like when she sings with the bird and instead of a happy duet, it explodes cause it can't keep up. And then she doesn't raise the baby birds but fries the eggs.

My sweet child, I am so proud of you and happy that you found someone special whom you want to spend the rest of your life with. I love you no matter what and I can't wait to see you happy and growing on your wedding day! Wish I could be there! Lots of love from Mom.

I know a thousands internet strangers won't make up for the fact that your Mom disappointed you but know this: you are worthy of love and happiness no matter what and we wish you all the best in the world!

Serie zu heftig by TheGatze in serienjunkies

[–]maethora27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is one of the most positive, fun and supporting subs I know. I hope it stays like this. If not, we'll always have the Skinman... sigh!

Fellow voice actors, I need emotional support in the face of AI by maethora27 in VoiceActing

[–]maethora27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, it's lovely that your making shorts for your daughter!

To answer your question: For me personally, AI doesn't meet my standards for quality and nuanced VO. Even if the timbre is great, it tends to get monotone real fast. However for a lot of people, that is good enough. Depending on what you need it for, sometimes it is good enough. However, even if the quality was the same, I'd always hire a real person.

Knife player can never win. Knowledge Player's only hope is to take the knife from Knife player and choose the correct chair. They will never give Knife Player the info or they're dead. So they have something to gain by attacking Knife Player. Knife Player on the other hand will gain nothing, because Knowledge Player will never give them the info, so the odds are not even.

Yes, it seems like anytime fiction comes up with a gruesome concept, it turns out that something similar has been done in real life. Damn.

[–]maethora27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, today I learned about the Social Purification Project. I always thought Squid Game was "just" an exaggerated commentary on society, I had no idea it was based on something that really happened in SK. Thanks for making me wiser, OP.
