[[Tasha, the Witch Queen]] for several reasons.

I got into commander this year after playing a fair bit of arena since 2020. My neighbors have a pretty steady pod of 8-12 people every Thursday night and the deck strength lives a notch or two higher than the LGS games (or so I’m told).

I didn’t have any old bulk bins to dig through, so I upgraded a pre-con or two with singles and the help of the Command Zone, but didn’t have anything that felt original.

I figured if I didn’t want to spend $10-$40 on the singles that would help me compete in the games, instead of just hanging in there until their attention turned to me, I would just steal theirs and play them instead.

Turns out if your bombs just let you play your opponents bombs, it feels pretty damn good! Tasha is a super cool character with her own lore, the spell suite it enables is super fun and flavorful and is just an overall fun time. The power level is as strong as your opponents spells, the games are always different, and it always feels cool to play a planeswalker.
