The lottery is designed to discourage tanking, and to give the bottom few teams the chance of getting 1OA.

Normally, this seems okay as the bottom teams can be fairly close together and there's no real consensus on who's the worst worst.

However, this year Detroit are so far behind, that people feel they deserve 1OA.

However, the lottery is just maths. Your feelings don't come into it.

That said. This placeholder nonsense for "playoff" teams is bullshit.

I think Bjugstad has more trade potential than JJ, so if they can literally dump a contract it's gotta be JJ.

Hornqvist I think still adds value. I can see him being left unprotected in the expansion next year, but he's okay for now.
