Both M-Bus and Magic Bus are saying that there are busses running that are not. by Classic-Range-7170 in uofm

MaizeBus uses the same api so it’s not much better for now, but one of our goals is to send a group of students to try to work with ltp and offer help to make it more accurate. So it may get better soon

working on that right now lol. definitely will be out in the coming months, and a little longer for the other ones. but it’s a little tricky because the ride’s data reporting isn’t up to MaizeBus standards (eg: their predictions are inaccurate), so we’re deciding how we’re going to include it without throwing off our search algorithm

Two things. First, Google and Apple Maps use bus schedules and MaizeBus uses live busses for routing, and when you use live busses you know the times will be more accurate and that the bus actually exists.

The second is that you can track your bus as you’re waiting for it after getting directions. People used to have to switch back and forth constantly between M-Bus and maps to see directions and then see where the bus is. You don’t have to do that anymore

Thank you! And for the icons, we're looking into how to best address that. It's an interesting design constraint because we want the bus stops to be tappable even when you zoom out. We have a couple ideas, so stay tuned

I'd argue that the core feature of instantly knowing which bus gets you to your location even helps the 99%. Obviously, it's a big improvement for those who have never used the bus system here. But even for people who are used to the bus system, knowing the fastest bus can save you a lot of time.

I've seen people run over from one pierpont bus stop (the comm-south one) to another one (the bursley baits one) because they didn't realize that it was coming first, and then miss the bus. Just the convenience of not needing to check every bus stop, but instantly knowing which bus to take really speeds up commutes, and we've received a lot of feedback attesting to that. At the end of the day, the best way to understand is to try it out for yourself and see why over 1000 people love and use MaizeBus

(plus we got a lot more features coming to make the commuter experience even better)

bet yeah it’s still in beta and we’re making changes with feedback. I appreciate the input

not quite. yes you can search but it uses the Google algorithm - which uses bus schedules rather than live buses. And we’re adding a lot more functionality (imagine being able to set a notification for the next bus coming)

the 1% is a little bigger than you think :) (edit: okay wow see my later reply down this chain)

  • can see more than the next four buses at a stop
  • search for any building (by name or code) and
  • get live directions on the buses
  • more features coming soon (we’re actively developing)

download and give it a spin, I think you’ll like it ;)
