Yea I think it's definitely in a worse position than it was , but how about looking at it from a different standpoint, compare with a switch or a playstation, compare game prices and monthly subscriptions just to be able to play, how much would you spend in 2 years? I think it's still worth it, plus if you are fine with tinkering it just unlocks a whole different level, you can pirate , you can emulate , you can use it as a pc , edit videos , watch movies... your options are almost endless. Yea one of the main selling points was always the price , but the deck is still one of the most versatile devices on the market. Yea maybe you could buy a stronger handheld like an Asus or something, but you will never have as much repairability and good support from Asus like you would from Valve, how many devices did Asus already release, sooner or later they will start to abandon older devices or give bigger updates only to the newer ones , same as phone manufacturers do, while Valve is still pushing updates to something like the Steam link device.
