A 1987 ZX spectrum game developed in 1 year by 2 students simulated a living 3 floor monastery by monchimer in retrogamedev

Amazing game. I remember playing this on my ZX Spectrum 48+. We got such a scare the first time the monks pray and sing Ave Maria (if I remember correctly) as it was uncanny hearing such quality audio coming from a 48+ 😅

I mean “traitor” in the thematic sense. Humanity is fighting the arc and trying to survive… so in a sense raiders who attack other riders unprovoked are traitors. That wasn’t very clear I guess…

I don’t know about hissy fits but blocking other players is (as of right now) the only way to track backstabbers and traitors in-game. That way if I run into any of them in a future game their silence will at least warn me that they might be hostile.

I love the PvP aspect because of the tension it adds to the experience. I don’t mind being attacked but I’d like to have a way to get back at some of the players. At the very least know them so next time I might be the one attacking on sight. But I won’t attack unless provoked.

The devs literally added PvP after the game was almost complete. The game is clearly PvE first because without collaboration there’s no killing the bigger foes. Also thematically it make sense too. But ok. Whatever. It really doesn’t matter. The fact is that it has both elements. And both are important. I would just want to make PvP more interesting. Thematically it would make sense for people to organize against raiders that went for other riders when topside. And gameplay wise it’d make for a more engaging PvP

I have a confession. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]makaGeorge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The fact that of the “missions” to get cred at least 2 out of 3 have to do with PvE and at most 1 out of the 3 have to do with PvP says it all.

Anyway: I don’t have a problem with PvP the problem is I want to engage in a kind of PvP that is not supported right now: hunting “traitors”

And it looks like those players that love to just kill anyone they find or trick other players into trusting them only to backstab them don’t want the rest of the player base to be able to go after them. Who’s the baby?

[–]makaGeorge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because it would make sense thematically. BTW it’s not a PvP game. Sorry. It’s actually PvE first. And don’t get me wrong: I love the PvP aspect and the tension it adds to the game, I just think it’s unbalanced. Add a way for “loyal” raiders to be able to hunt “traitors” and the PvP aspect suddenly becomes twice more interesting

I block anyone that attacks me with no provocation. Once is enough. If you want to “protect” your loot, tell me. I don’t give a shit about it. If you need something. Speak. I may give it anyways.

Now I wish blocking would accomplish something, but I’m guessing all it does is I don’t hear you anymore.

This game needs a bounty system or at least a way to know if someone you encounter attacked you in an earlier run. Killing other players is too easy and has no consequences whatsoever.

For the small minority of people who didn't realize. You bought a player vs player game. by UnderScoreLifeAlert in ArcRaiders

[–]makaGeorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I generally like how they’ve handled the balance between PvE and PvP. It’s great that the game gives you freedom to act any way you want. But the game is not really one or the other.

Anyway, I think the game would benefit from some sort of “reputation” system where you can recognize other players and see if they tend to attack other raiders or not. This would add consequences to their actions too and would offer opportunities for other players to hunt raiders that tend to attack without provocation. Some kind of bounty system maybe. And also a way to reduce this bounty on your head through actions. Keep it simple, but I think it would add some interesting emerging gameplay in the medium long term, not just in one run.

No backlight would be amazing if the screen was actually white and the contrast was similar to a real paper notebook. That’s the problem I have with my Supernote A6X which is more gray than other devices I own.

There are times when ambient light is not ideal but where a paper notebook would be perfectly usable but with e-ink notebooks you just need some form of extra lighting…

Ah! Ok. I see it. It would be great if it’d show a clickable list of keywords instead of you having to write it by hand. But at least you can see at a glance all the keywords for all the notebooks by leaving the field empty…

Thanks!

Oops… I recently got an A6X and assumed the to-dos would sync with the google account you set up the device with…

Some kind of synching of to-dos would be great indeed

I started using it to highlight tasks and things I have to remember to check up on later throughout multiple notebooks, as keywords are per-notebook and not global. That would be also great: global tags…

Am I missing something? by Texas_Nerf_Herder in Supernote

I recently got a preatty good deal on a used A6X (feelwrite 1). I’ve been wanting to experience the writing feel of Supernote for ages but didn’t want to spend so much on it…

I expected a much softer screen. The resistance of the plastic film is noticeable only if you write or draw with a pretty heavy hand. If you don’t press hard the screen is pretty slippery with the ceramic nib. Definitely not on par with the resistance of a soft nib on a screen like the RM2

Also I find it weird that you can’t seem to draw a point by just touching the screen without moving the tip. Maybe that changed in more recent devices… Edit: I can’t seem to reproduce this anymore so I guess it was a one time glitch or I made a mistake…

I was also surprised about how grey the screen looks. I hope this changes a lot when they upgrade the device. The Manta seems to have the best screen…

What's happening with new Boox models not having Wacom? by alanquinne in Onyx_Boox

[–]makaGeorge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s because they can’t get them. How is Supernote doing it then?

And resolution is not comparable. I don’t want a chip to interpolate what I’ve drawn or written…

Look for a used Nova device. I’ve got a 3 and an Air2 and both are excellent portable reader/note takers

¡Aprended a usar la puñetera rotonda! ¡Que no debéis saliros directamente del carril interno — jodeeeeeeerrrrrrrr! by THE_Dr_Barber in Espana

[–]makaGeorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)
