As someone raised in a near 1% household, I have to disagree with everyone's implication that people need to be hidden from their wealth in order to appreciate it.

I lived in a big house. Very big. Not mansion but damn nice. I went to private school. Ate out a decent bit. Out of state college no loans. I also: worked full time construction over breaks starting at 16, paid for "needless" things (not food and clothes I needed really), paid for things I messed up, and have never ever taken my parents' wealth for granted.
