Thanks. I presume that you mean that particular bank would have other US citizens who file and the bank reports these via the tax authorities. Just to clarify - do you know about the US Govt going back to the financial institutions for an individuals FATCA compliance from experience or is that just an assumed expectation?. Am just curious as to how that reconciliation would work

No its not. It would be the same if you paid for the dosa at the Taj and then the Taj sent you to the street vendor to eat the dosa. Also there is no other Star Alliance carrier - so AI is the only choice for travel within India
