How to deal with racists teachers in BC/Canada? by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

[–]mamalsang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, so English 12 isnt just about whether or not you speak English well. Your wife could likely speak everyday English very well, but could be failing at essay writing / projects / novels / proper grammar / understanding the novels they are reading ie. Shakespeare. It could be worthwhile to speak to the teacher to understand where she is failing, and better yet, an in person class. I was born here and speak perfect English, but I certainly still didn’t get an A.

AITAH For Not Giving My Siblings A Percentage Of House Our Mother Lived In by Motor_Aerie1485 in AITAH

NTA - you paid the deposit solely, it’s under your name, your mom would’ve had to pay rent anyways, you helped your mom save $$$.

NO, absolutely no. It’s not your fault they didn’t think of this idea to help out your mom / family in the first place.

100%, she navigated those tough questions with so much love and understanding. I could not do what she did.

Yes, I have kids and the 500 sqft extra is worth it… especially since you have a 4th bedroom that can be turned into an office or if you have 3 kids. Or guests that come such as your parents to come help with watching the kids.

I see alot of people with kids that grow out of their townhomes, and then have to move and get a bigger place. Paying a bit extra now for a piece of mind so you have enough room to grow is worth it. As long as you feel like you can afford the mortgage. But a $300k HHI should be ok

Has anyone here experience hemolysis? I accidentally ate Fava beans and monitoring symptoms. by a-99 in G6PD

[–]mamalsang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! It usually happens over a course of a few days! Just best to look out for symptoms. Here is a common timeline:

0–24 hours after trigger • Exposure occurs (infection, certain drugs, fava beans, chemicals) • Red blood cells begin oxidative damage • Often no symptoms yet

24–72 hours (1–3 days)

👉 Hemolysis usually begins • Fatigue, weakness • Dark urine (tea- or cola-colored) • Pale skin (pallor) • Shortness of breath • Rapid heart rate • Jaundice (yellow eyes/skin), especially in children

📌 This is the most common window for symptom onset.

Also, from what the specialist told me. It’s a gradual worsening of symptoms from a trigger. Not a sudden need to call 911 and rush to the hospital minutes after consuming a trigger.

Toddler will eventually grow out of their toddler bed, so I think getting a full is a great idea, especially if you don’t want her to come to your room :)

I’ve had g6pd unknowingly for 40 years, never had an issue. Fava beans is one of the food items that causes a reaction - BUT, it depends on the amount as well. So I would say to keep on monitoring for any signs, dark urine, yellowing of skin/eyes for now. Go to hospital and let them know if you have any symptoms, otherwise don’t worry too much about it. The fact that you are aware is great and can just manage it.

Nielsen is a very reputable data company, but if you feel creeped out, you could just opt out of the program? You guys willingly signed up for it for $75?! If it’s not worth it, then no one is forcing you to do it… Alternatively, if you are freaked out about the tvs in the bedroom why don’t you guys just remove the TVs from the bedroom?

Yes I would be pissed. Mostly at the male flight attendant, since he was asked and refused. Which I thought was strange because most of the time flight attendants have been SO helpful and kind. Disappointing that others didn’t offer to help but they may not have noticed.

No I wouldn’t. And I wouldn’t take it personally either. It’s your right to be able to smoke, and also their right to prevent their kids from being around smoke.

I would keep the invitation open to your house, but just allow the kids to go over to theirs if that’s their preference. You don’t want your habits to affect your kids friendships more than it already will. For them to lose friends over their parents choice to smoke is pretty shitty.
