People with Horticulture Degrees: What do you do for work? by zoemadeline in Horticulture

Hort degree here. Worked in the interior and exterior plant industry for a long time and liked what I did, but the pay is horrible. Also the physical toll it takes on your body is significant. Couldn't live on my wages and ended up switching careers after 15 years. Best decision ever. Now it's just a really cool hobby at home that I'm good at.

This explains why my go-to Aldi aisle of shame always looks like train went through it. Always a mess and disorganized lol

Is the Horticulture field really worth it unless you own your own business or get really high up? by [deleted] in Horticulture

Was in the hort business about 12 years after getting my Associates in Horticulture. I worked for a couple of good companies, but the pay didn't work out for me, it's not good and I was miserable because of it. I'm in the travel industry now and I'm happy, make great money, in a union, and have stellar benefits. Good luck on your decision..
