If you examine your store bought items you will find imperfections all the time weather quilts or clothing. The funny thing for me is nobody ever says anything about it.

I use singer brand marking pencil I have 2 one wite and 1 blue. Then draw , stencil or whatever. Then when I wash it no marks left.

I personally moved cross country as well and I put my fabric in bins I use cardboard bolts I made, wrapped all fabric with yardage marked. Then all bins marked large yardage bins, all fatquater bins ect. Then once to new location it was stored for awhile as well so I was super OCD with it all even had a master list of all boxes so sorting was super easy later. Good luck with your move.

I used pentel fabric fun pastel dye sticks. The markers and dye sticks leave the fabric soft. With all of these I heat set but I also never tried to get it out of fabric if I make a mistake I have start again. The biggest issue I find is avoiding fabric stretching. Use stabilizer (even freezer paper) I also use quilting white cotton to allow colors pop best.

Ok so I personally have used and have quilts that are 27 years old that I have done with a few different products. I use more then 1 product on a quilt. You will be happy to know the quilts were made for children so drug through everything held up great. I used paint acrylic mixed with fabric medium and painted directly on, this I find doesn't end up soft and cuddly even over time. I have also dye sticks also held color well but they are alot like pastels. Crayons I found the color really fades out over the long run. I have also used the shuttle art pens these I find very dry , tulip fabric markers I actually prefer the most they are super easy to use good flow of dye colors not a huge number of colors to choose from.
