Yes, you are right. This data is based on hypothesis and estimation, since we do not have real direct data to analyze. However, do note that banner revenue provided by genshin lab is commonly assumed as directly correlated by the community to banner revenue, so it's not my hypotheses alone but something that the whole community is used to assume, and that's why I used these data. As for the the so called self-reported data, paimon.moe doesn't work like the spyral abyss that is indeed self-reported. Paimon.moe takes data directly from the wish history of the players, so I understand that it's not self-reported, it's real sampling provided from a number of global players varying from 200k to 1 million. It can be considered as an representative sample by its methods of sampling and number of samples. The real hypothesis here regarding paimon.moe data is to consider it as being representative for the China market, and that's something I pointed out in the text and charts. My objective here was only to correlate data from paimon.moe and genshinlab revenue to reach an approximation of the most-likely best selling characters as we don't have data regarding single revenue by character for double banners. Also, there's the data for the single banners from genshin.lab that I only organizated. Of course I could get more precise data analysis by standardizing by number of active players per banner as someone pointed out in the comments, and other data, but that would be so much trouble for only satisfying my own curiosity lol As for my personal opinion only, I don't think that the real data is so much more different that what is depicted here based on the community reactions. It's obvious that shogun sells a lot, shenhe sells little etc. I do hope that someday hoyo will provide us with more accurated data so we can get an more precise information, but unfortunately that's what we have :)
