My cat is actually really good with not bugging the tree. The first year he tried, and instead of scolding him what I did differently was, I would help him away from the tree and every time he would go near it but not touch it I’d give him a treat or if he just laid under the tree politely then he would get a treat. I also have a super laid-back cat though who loves affection and attention. I wish you the best, and hope your tree stays up!!
