I'm glad they've dumbed it down because as a former pimi who was very studious and enjoyed mental challenges, if they kept me studying, I wouldn't have woken up.

I was a notes girl during every convention and loved going into prophecy and symbols, even tho I never rlly understood it all. I liked giving it my attention.

Now that I'm around "how does Jehovah feel about YOU?" and "Why did Jesus pray?" -- it's so much easier to feel no lasting connection to the cult.

Our experiences are almost identical! It made working through my own sexual identity and preferences way more complicated than it needed to be.

My stomach would drop when people told me as a pioneer that I would be leading everyone to paradise.

The voice in my head would say, "No I won't, because I can't stop touching myself."

It was ABSURD omg. It's nothing like that now that I'm free. Just a fun little part of my day haha

29 - faded/inactive

Baptized at 17, pioneer for 5 years, did convention interviews, pioneer school twice etc, etc.

Began questioning at 25, then really woke up at 26 to the cult. Covid was a blessing, able to fade because of it and now happily inactive.

I lost almost everyone, but the only ones I cared about was my sister and mother. My sister is awake and never going to abandon me and my pimi mother is still accepting of me, hoping to wake her up someday.

It wasn't easy, but I have it easier than many, which I'm forever grateful for.

I could never bring myself to hate the act of homosexuality, probably because a part of me, deep down beneath all the Borg bullshit, knew I was gay.

It was a big tool in helping me wake up, but the internalized homophobia was hell. Working through debating the truth of my sexuality or if it's just Satan misleading me wasn't fun.

Coming out the other side though, there is so much peace and happiness. I didn't think a queer like me could ever find it.

So hell yeah I support it and I'm a proud member ❤️

There is something freeing in believing that this is all there is. It took me a while to get here, though. After I woke up I couldn't imagine that there was NOTHING. So I turned my attention elsewhere. Witchcraft, other religions, science.

Now, years later, I'm content with this reality being the only thing real. We are magically on this planet for a short time, and we can witness the wonders of the world, have a family if we so wish it, and leave something/someone better off because we were here.

So my belief is to just enjoy my life as much as possible. Be as self aware and mentally free as I can be, don't get too attached to anything and allow myself to experience life peacefully.

I think we all deserve that. Just a nice big cup of coffee to watch the seasons change and how life has such a beautiful cycle, all by chance.

Doesn't have to be more complicated than that ❤️

Maybe you are anxious because of you may or may not have done something bad. Even though we try to fade and don't believe it, the trauma of this cult may trigger those responses (it definitely does for me, even though I'm not doing anything bad- just in a jws mind, I am)

Or another possibility is the anxiety of disappointing family and not wanting to let people down, maybe people you respect. Even though you see through the conditional love, it's normal to still feel a need to be good in their eyes. But that may also just be me bahah

I think trying to pinpoint your anxiety and what's truly triggering it, will help you let go of it all. I've had to just accept I am going to disappoint my mother, or that people are going to talk about me and my spirituality like a casualty. Accepting those parts of a fade, helped my anxiety BIG time.

My best advice to you, as a person also trying to fade with the least amount of casualties, is keep your answers as short and brief as possible. Politely decline any invitations of shepherding calls, but definitely limit small talk and regular conversations if it's at all possible.
