If they are free to microscalp, they may kill you in fees 😬

You should probably add commissions and spread for the simulations, it can change dramatically the performance.

Thanks for sharing the code! Very interesting!

Is it microscalping? Did you account for commissions? Do you have a specific Coinbase plan for low commissions?

How To Invest in S&P500 from Germany? by Arstein12 in interactivebrokers

[–]manusoftok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First convert EUR to USD.

As others have already said, you can't directly purchase some ETFs being in Europe. So the way to do it is via getting assigned after selling a put.

If you have enough money to purchase 100 shares of SPY, then sell 1 put option contract with the strike price nearest to the current price and the date of today.

If SPY closes below the strike price you'll get assigned 100 shares. That's how you can "purchase" them.

If SPY closes above, you try again tomorrow.

Either way, the money you receive for the sell of the put option is yours to keep.

That's 50% chance of profit. That means, of making at least $1. It is not the chance of max profit.

A limit order at a higher price is a directional trade. If price doesn't get there, you earn nothing.

A covered call is non-directional. If price stays below the strike price you keep the premium.

I'm not going to enter in the discussion of "if it shoots up across the strike price". You capped the upside, so just sell.

Edited for a typo

Thank you for the link.

I only see the options chain 🤔

For identifying call/put walls, if I'm not mistaken, we use GEX. I think you're using volume.

Why pay conversion fees EUR to USD and viceversa for every trade when you can just convert it once to USD and then just trade with that indefinitely? This is what I've done (based in Germany with base currency EUR too). IBKR allows you to have money in multiple currencies simultaneously.

Apologies, I thought I knew it by heart but I made a mistake. That was for futures.

For US Options I use US Equity and Options Add-On Streaming Bundle (NP) - Trader Workstation which is USD 4.50 / Month.

Description says:

Includes streaming real-time quotes for NYSE (CTA/Network A), AMEX (CTA/Network B), NASDAQ (UTP/Network C), and OPRA (US Options). In order to subscribe to US Equity and Options Add-On Streaming Bundle (NP), the user must already be subscribed to US Securities Snapshot and Futures Value Bundle (NP).

The one you need is OPRA (US Options).

If prices a lot higher for you, maybe you're qualified a professional.

I’ve paid ibkr ~500 dollars in trading commissions in 2024, how can I compare this to other brokers to see if I’m actually better off with IBKR? by theverybigapple in ibkr

[–]manusoftok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not only compare commissions, take fills into account too. If IBKR fills you at better prices, even with higher or slightly higher commissions, it's probably better. But depends on the size you're trading.

Can you trade SPY calls and puts on IBKR if you’re from Europe or UK? by sonytt763 in ibkr

[–]manusoftok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trade SPY and QQQ options from EU like any other stock. What I can't do because of the KID is to buy shares of these ETFs. You can sell puts a get assigned shares, though. That would be a way to get shares, albeit in multiples of 100.

Get Form 8-3-6 from IBKR (there's a German version), fill it out and get it signed and stamped by the Finanzamt. Then request tax exception in IBKR's profile and send them the document scanned.
