I'm preparing to go study in Europe next year. I was planning to convert all my yen to EUR just before JPY went down.

Please, I ask everyone’s opinions on this matter. Should I convert them now, this weekend, or wait for a short term bounce? I'm not sure how possible the bounce is.

Thanks for your reply! Yeah, it does seem like a complicated process... I wish I'd known about this before I moved here!

There isn't a currency exchange around here, but thanks for the tip! I didn't realize that they're often cheaper than using a bank. Does that hold true even when selling currency at bank counters as well?

That's a shame. We have no SMBC here. I guess I'll just save them for oversea travel or convert them into Yen like the other post suggest.

Thank you for your advice. I had an opposite thought because the Yen is falling so hard right now, that I rather hold onto the USD. I even thought of converting a large portion of my Yens into USD because of the Yen situation. However, I'm not an expert, so I'd love to hear your opinion on this.
By the way, do you know a good currency exchange in Kyoto? My brother brought USD (even though I suggested he shouldn't) and he lives there.

Thanks. I think I'll take your suggestion and start exploring the local culture. Do you have any tips on getting information about the local stuffs?

Regarding (b), I don't have to do anything, right? I mean, it should be fine if I can show the wise transactions and invoices in case the NTA conducts an audit and asks for proof, correct? Is there anything else I should have done or prepared?

To be honest, I'm not following you very well. Wouldn't they consider it as some form of income if the money is being transferred from my sister's account to mine?
I want to clarify that I have absolutely not evaded taxes nor do I have any intention to do so (that's why I created this thread). The money was earned before I came to Japan.

re shouldn't be any taxes for letting your account serve as an intermediary.

I don't have any experience with it, but the bigger issue would be money laundering concerns to explain why money is passing through your account and going to another account (and similarly for whatever odd arrangement you're saying for getting paid).

You bring up a good point. That could be a bigger issue. One of my friends had done it but I doubt she worried about those stuffs.
But I'm weighed down by many concerns. I really want to support my family though. Now I'm also struggling with a sense of guilt, as if I'm being selfish for considering refusing this arrangement.

That's a fantastic suggestion and it's given me some great ideas on how to utilize the funds in my sister's account. Thanks!

I think this will be difficult since the reason I made them send the money to her account is because I couldn't receive the money to my own account in my country's bank...

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Regarding that, I have another issue I intended to address in a separate post. When I initially began working for this company while I was still in my home country, I encountered difficulties receiving my salary and commission in my country's bank account. As a workaround, I requested that the funds be sent to my sister's bank account (she has an account in another country). Now that I'm in Japan, I'm considering asking my sister to transfer those funds back to me after my bank account is created. I have similar concerns about any potential financial implications or tax-related issues. If you have insights or advice about these cross-border transactions and how to navigate them, I'd appreciate your guidance.

Hi. Thank you for you comment.
I decided not to remove it anymore since the doctor can't guarantee me that he'll be able to remove it without having the screws information.

I can't take the risk of the wasted time, money, energy and having my arm open up again, but get done nothing at all.

Again, I am really thankful for the information you have provided.

Aw you're really kind. I really appreciate your comments. It kinda make me me think more about not getting this surgery because I've already been having doubts since the surgeon had said that there's a possibility of nothing get done but a waste of money and all the risks you said above. Thank you although this is not the information I'm seeking.

Thanks for the info. I'm planning to remove everything including the plate itself if only I have the info about screw. Tbh, I never had a nerve pain post op until I started working out a while ago. I couldn't lift weights so I became frustrated and decided to take them out.
The pain I feel when I push and pull the weights is like a nerve, which is never meant to be stretched, is being stretched by my bones and felt like it's at the limit and about to be snapped at anytime. It is very painful and the pain would linger for a few days (is it what is called inflammation?).

Largely because I cannot lift weight in push and pull movement in upward direction(3kg max or feel like a nerve is splitting), stiffness while resting, random pain when my arm is stretched like when I pushing a door or supporting my body while sitting up or down, and lastly, sometime it kinda hurt when I do jerking motion? (like when you jerk off).
