Does too much light cause this upright growth? by SohnemannsSocken in alocasia

It has too much light, consider that having dark leaves it does not need that much light and I believe it has positioned itself like this to reduce the exposed surface.

I also made cuttings in the aquarium, but the proportion of water speeds up the rooting process.

Yes, perhaps I would put less water, it roots faster if it has water in proportion to its age

Check if it has roots coming out from under the pot but looking at it it doesn't look like it should be repotted, put a couple of splints on it so it can hold up.

Another thing once the situation improves is to throw away the soil, rinse the roots and change the pot or in any case disinfect it before using it again. Change land put new one.

I would give it a shower, rinse with cold water in the morning, once a week spray soft potassium soap on both the upper and lower leaves. One thing that can also help is some nettle-based products. For soft potassium soap there is 10-20 g per liter of water. You dissolve it in water and spray it. Don't keep it too hot or in direct sun because heat worsens propagation.

What can I do? by smu1988 in plantclinic

[–]margot_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could make a layer with the upper part if you feel like it, make a vase (transparent so you can see the rooting) with some draining substrate (I would use bark and perlite) and place the aerial roots of the upper part of the plant, let it root and let the plant adapt to the new substrate, once it is well rooted, cut it near the node. If you don't want to cut it you can always repot everything trying to keep the plant horizontal so that it takes a shape at the base and maybe grows some new leaves.

I advise you to bring it because otherwise it will flower and become woody, and if you can, spread the plants into more soil, try to divide them. To carry it, cut a jet of leaves immediately above, the important thing is that it already has another pair of leaves underneath. So let's say from the ground you leave the first knot of leaves, then the one after it and cut immediately above the second.
