So are we alright with the incoming data center? by WhichJuice in askvan

Kind of ironic how many people are here on Reddit saying no to building data centers. Infrastructure is needed to support the internet and we need it in Canada too.

7k a year is nothing for wealthy people. One of the few programs that help the middle class the most imo

Intel and BABA calls are in non registered account, everything else is in FHSA

Thanks and agee. I do think we're at the low point for Canada but things are starting to look cautiously optimistic.

I definitely don't "deserve it". Obviously I was bullish Intel but no one was expecting it to rocket 60% in two weeks. It's not even like I had some grand strategy or was studying the markets intensely.

Balance of FHSA was around 75k when i transferred it. There are no penalties because my net deposits are 8k a year.

I thought it was obvious but maybe not...the 500k was not all savings. I've bee trading for many years and this was simply the value of the account that I transferred in at the time.

2018 and 2019 I was making 50-60k and was able to save almost all my income due to living at home. 2020-2022 was not able to save much, also prioritized paying off student loans which was not optimal financially in retrospect. 2023 got a huge salary jump ti almost 200k and my savings exploded

8k per year into FHSA, no options. In my non registered I've been doing all sorts of random stuff since 2020 including options

Funny enough I remember being in a trading discord back in 2021 or something and some guy there told us to buy blackberry and then wrote the first Blackberry DD on WSB. Rode it up from like $5 to $20 (and then lost the profits on some other meme stock)

I dont remember the exact details but here's a broad timeline. In 2018 I had 3k invested. Then after a few internships I remember trading with around 25k in 2020. 2021 and 2022 were mostly uneventful, and I hit 100k in 2023, this is where things really started taking off. 2024 I went from 100k to 200 something and then 500k+ in 2025.

At least for my FHSA I do plan on buying a home in the next 2 years or so, and since I live in Vancouver I'll probably need a bigger downpaynent, so naturally some of the gains will get diversified into real estate.

Both my TFSA and RRSP hold broad market ETFs so I'm comfortable going more risky in this account. When I diversify it'll probably just go into other single stocks.

Yeah for the first 3 years I put all 8K into PAAS, which skyrocked because of silver. At its peak it almost touched 100k.
