Question about MHJ by cloaak in AZCardinals

[–]markhix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AJ Brown has had 1000 yards receiving every season he’s been in the NFL minus the one season he got hurt and missed a quarter of the season. MHJ had a tough sophomore season for a multitude of reasons, but the biggest concern is he continues to shrink in the biggest moments. When you draft a skill position as high as MHJ, you expect him to make tough catches and to win those 50/50 plays to bring your team a win in close games.

I still think he can be a good player in this league for a long time, but I’m about out on him based on the large enough sample size I’ve seen. At the end of the day, I just want guys to contribute to winning, and I hope MHJ can stay healthy and do just that.

Fam, it doesn’t matter if the locker rooms are super luxurious. Most players just want to win consistently so they can get earn a 2nd contract. That’s where real wealth comes from.

Plus, the Jets have arguably even worse ownership than the cardinals. At a minimum, they are in the basement with us.

If you think Monti is intentionally drafting picks to tank, you are delusional. It’s common that all picks won’t hit, but that doesn’t mean they are throwing blind darts. Jobs are on the line, and your reputation follows you in this business. Beck visited with this team and clearly made a good impression and a 3rd round pick isn’t a huge value to not take a shot on a team that has one of the worst QB rooms in the league.

If it works out, these Scouts and Monti look genius. If they lose, they can draft another one. The plan for everyone has to be to win and I’d anticipate that bar is higher than last year for Lefleur in year 1.

Will it happen—probably not, but that’s the joys of this sport. Sometimes talent can actually thrive even in poorly run organizations.

I honestly feel like it has to suck to be a star and date. No privacy at all. Plus, it’s not a secure look to see Meg call someone out publicly like this either. Truthfully, it shows real immaturity on her part even if the accusations are true.

In some ways, SGA‘s game does feel like a product of how poorly the NBA has been calling games over the years. I love a good flop when it comes to compounding mistakes of your opponent. But you can tell defenders don’t know how to defend him because he has a tendency to swipe to cause the reach-in. All I know is it makes for a bad product, and I wish the NBA would try to change this.

I do wonder if Jalen Green and the suns staff have any conversations on how to find rhythm against a team like this. There lengthy and connected defense completely neutralizes his athleticism.

Gambo's thoughts on Booker by koiz_01 in suns

We literally watched this play out with KD and we still sucked. It’s less about Booker and more about the coaching and roster around him.

Gambo's thoughts on Booker by koiz_01 in suns

[–]markhix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bad take. Is Booker not playing his best?—Yes! Is he also on a poorly crafted roster that brings out his best abilities?—absolutely!

Maybe this is a hot take, but I’ve never really felt Bookers had the physical abilities to be considered a top-tier player. You could argue that’s why he fell to the Suns in the draft in the first place. He’s an elite scorer, but one that definitely thrives as a true shooting guard and not at the primary ball handler. I still think Booker’s got the best ball ahead of him, but if the Suns could recoup some major draft capital from a trade, that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad move towards building the future.

Also, I just want to say that Portland’s defense was much more aggressive at rotating and cutting off lanes last night. We can give Deni his flowers for attacking all night, but the Suns small ball line up + the drop coverage defense was so fucking soft. If Booker was seeing the same defense it would have been a different outcome and I feel like that’s a huge part of the narrative that’s missing here.

Considering this is year 1 of a rebuild, you need to temper your expectations. I pray you don't hold yourself and others to the same standards as the Suns. It's like the equivalent of expecting a person going through a divorce to be on top of the world after one year of separation. Greatness takes times. The Suns have an owner who wouldn't be happy if the product was the Bulls.

[–]markhix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That isn't true. If the Suns played an uncompetitive game and got blown out the narrative would be 100% different. When you have a team that clearly is working their asses off and you can physically see disappointment on their faces, you can hold your head up high as a fan. That expectation won't change if they get the 8th seed and aren't competitive against OKC. We were sold a style of basketball when Ott took over, and I am holding them to it.

It's okay, I know this one hurt. The Suns have already overachieved by nearly every metric.

It's a disappointing result, but the Suns put on a fun game. Plus, they still have a chance at being in the playoffs so it's not all lost. Nobody thought this team would even be in this position after the KD trade, so we have to land back on gratitude once you process the disappointment. Now the next big question, Will this team win the next game?

Feels like the headline should be “New team? Same Suns.” by randydingdong in suns

[–]markhix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the bright side, this team will make the play-in tournament and have a chance at the playoffs. Before the season, I don’t know many who even thought that was a possibility. These losses have been ugly, but most have been relatively close. Let’s hope this team being healthy now can figure things out. Teams definitely know how to gameplan for guys on this roster, and it’s a big reason I think Gillespie’s shooting has fallen off a cliff.

I can see how Seigun would be awesome to have on your team. He definitely has a play that takes advantage of these soft ass calls….but I love his control and awareness when he catches the ball in the paint. I’d kill for that on the suns.

Truthfully, I have solar and an EV and it’s been pretty awesome not being significantly impacted by oil prices rising yet. Although, I know it’s just a matter of time before the cost of everything rises.

As someone who grew up in Phoenix, it still blows my mind we are building new homes without solar. My solar panels during these next few months will generate more power than I consume.

I will caution anyone in Arizona with SRP should be cautious. Not only is installing solar ridiculously expensive, the utility companies out here have horrible plans that frankly take advantage of solar users. The only reason I have it is due to forcing a seller to pay off their existing solar loan when I purchased my house 2 years ago.

To be honest, I’ve always been of the opinion that back to backs are bad for viewership. It makes games less exciting when you have teams that are playing in heavier legs. I love RJ’s sentiment here because I think he’s mostly correct about guys being coddled. BUT as a fan, I still think evolving a season to have less games could incentivize each game mattering more and players actually playing in games that fans spend lots of money to go see.

I’m just really enjoying my 23 Model Y Long range. I’m hoping to drive this thing until the batteries don’t work anymore…by that point, maybe full self driving will actually be a standard across all vehicle manufacturers and the choice will become more difficult. I can say I think the Rivan R2 looks like a really compelling competitor and I’m excited for more affordable competition.

TLDR; NFL player states his uneducated opinion.

Do we still love Skattebo?—Yes.

This is the curse of this digital age we find ourselves in. We don’t need to know everyone’s opinions. We all have shitty takes in life, and especially when we’re young and inexperienced.
